My buddy and I were discussing the transfer portal and coaching carousel over the weekend. What's everyone's thoughts for solutions to the transfer portal?

I feel the easiest solution is to make it so that the transfer portal doesn't open up until around March or April. This way you're not creating a need for coaches to be hired in November and December to get in on portal guys.

Also I mentioned treating it as though player's are held to a 1 year obligation via their NIL stuff with it running from summer to spring. 

Even though it doesn't matter any longer wouldn't that be an issue academically? That would also be during the window for spring practice. I totally agree that something needs to be done about this entire mess.

I don't believe so. You don't have to transfer as soon as you commit to another school. Student athletes are just formally and officially stating they intend to transfer to their new school following the Spring semester.
