Budget for your Athletic Programs

Featured Replies

Just curious what are some of the athletic budgets schools have to work with? Do you have to raise it yourself or does the board give you a amout. Where my kids go to school the dept. has to come up with their own funds. This is usually made at the gates from the ballgames.

Same where I coach. We have to fund the entire athletic department from girls/boys basketball. That supports baseball, softball, track, soccer g/b. The only money available is the money raised. Its tough when the board of education in most districts does not recognize the value of athletics in school systems. The schools spends thousands talking about cats testing and all these other great programs to get kids in college, the truth is, if they spent just a fraction of that effort and resources into athletics, maybe a few kids will get the opportunity to go to college on athletic scholarship like I did.

I belive alot of schools have to raise the money specific to there sport Girls Basketball is seperate from boys basketball football is seperate each team raises there own money i don't like this system i think it creates a competition and noone seems to work together for the good of the kids and schools JMO

The Toyota Classic supplements budgets for all athletic teams in Scott Co. who choose to participate in the sale of tickets - all the way down to the middle school level.

Boys Basketball also has a golf scramble to raise $$$.

I don't know what the starting budgets are (if any).
