DevilMayCare Posted November 25 Posted November 25 Regional Championship Round Evan Hampton (RB, Owensboro) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🗞️ | The gait widened with every churn and the earth moved beneath his feet at a frenzied pace. It looked effortless at times, almost as if he weren't touching the ground. For a night, the devil flew with the angels once more. Fairdale was a deer in headlights as Hampton's stampede swelled to record breaking proportions. No one has ever run for more yards in a game wearing an Owensboro uniform. That includes the legendary Mark Higgs, an eight year veteran of the NFL. The damage to Fairdale was catastrophic: 19 rushes for 326 yards and 5 touchdowns. He's running with a full tank when most backs are coasting on fumes. Fairdale High School.mp4 Season so far: 154 carries for 1,661 yards and 25 touchdowns | 229 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns Marlon Harbin III (ATH, Saint Xavier) ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🗞️ | The numbers won't blow you away, but the distribution was quintessential Harbin: 64 yards receiving and a touchdown, 32 rushing yards and a touchdown, eight tackles, two for a loss, and an interception to turn back Male. His prints were all over the game. Louisville Male High School.mp4 Season so far: 51 receptions for 604 yards and 9 touchdowns | 53 rushes for 357 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns | 2 kick return touchdowns | 46 tackles | 3 interceptions | one scoop and score Mason Trimble (QB, Saint Xavier) ⭐⭐⭐ 🗞️ | This week's ‘William Tell Marksmanship Award’ 🎯 goes to Trimble for completing 13 of 16 attempts for 164 yards and a touchdown (plus a rushing score) against Male, a modest but effective line. He may need to shed that modesty this week, as the biggest game of his career awaits. Season so far: 150/213 (70%) for 1,962 yards and 25 touchdowns with 4 interceptions | 347 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns Wyatt Robbins (QB, Murray) ⭐⭐⭐ 🗞️ | The game had previously come so easily to him, but Robbins had to reach for this one. Facing the best defense he's seen all season, he dug deep to overcome Lexington Catholic in OT with 225 passing yards and a touchdown, plus another rushing. With few exceptions, he chipped away at LexCath with a nickel and dime approach. His yards per attempt (6) were less than half of his average going in (13). It wasn't always pretty, and yet beautiful at the same time. Survive and advance. Season so far: 181/256 (70%) for 3,130 yards and 35 touchdowns with 4 interceptions | 512 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns Kaleb Evans (QB, Lloyd Memorial) ⭐⭐⭐ 🗞️ | A year after last year's collapse against Russell, Evans exorcised the Devils with 178 yards and a pair of touchdown passes. His 40 yard rope in the final minutes sealed Russell's fate. Season so far: 143/201 (71%) for 2,187 yards and 34 touchdowns with 5 interceptions | 1 rushing touchdown Kaleb Miller (RB, Bell County) ⭐⭐⭐ 🗞️ | Grinded out 116 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries in a defensive slugfest with Lawrence County. Miller shined on that side of the ball too, recording his first career interception to help stifle a potent Lawrence offense. Season so far: 179 carries for 1,930 yards and 28 touchdowns | 1 receiving touchdown | 42 tackles | 1 interception Cash Harney (QB, Covington Catholic) ⭐⭐ 🗞️ | This time last year, he was basking in the glow of his conquest of ‘Title Town’. The Rebels remember. Boyle County never let Harney find the running room that vexed them a year ago, bottling him up for less than ⅓ of his rushing output that night (75 yards to last year's 234). He was unable to compensate with his arm, throwing for just 80 yards and a touchdown. Season so far: 121/188 (64%) for 1,941 yards and 15 touchdowns with 6 interceptions | 1,002 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns | 1 receiving touchdown Kris Hughes (ATH, Somerset) ⭐⭐ 🗞️ | The watchlist slept on Hughes before waking up last week. It's already time for a nap after the Jumpers were ousted by OCath, with Hughes averaging 3.6 yards per carry and tossing two interceptions. His 125 rushing yards against the Aces makes him the first to reach 2,000 this season. Season so far: 71/119 (59%) for 1,092 yards and 11 touchdowns with 4 interceptions | 232 carries for 2,081 yards and 37 touchdowns | 37 tackles | 2 interceptions Jacob Savage (RB/LB, Ryle) ⭐ 🗞️ | The biggest development of the region final round was a lower body injury to Ryle's two-way thumper. Savage was hobbled in the first half against Frederick Douglass and exited for good following his first carry of the third quarter, leaving him with just 21 yards on eight carries. His void in the middle of the defense was noticeable, as FD's Dakari Talbert ran for over 200 yards. Season so far: 163 carries for 1,222 yards and 24 touchdowns | 204 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns | 112 tackles | 15 TFL | one fumble forced and one recovered | 2 interceptions Trending Up 📈 Miles Edge (RB/LB, Owensboro Catholic) 🗞️ | Pound for pound one of the state's best football players. Edge waited patiently while the offense revolved around Brady Atwell. He's now a featured component of another deep playoff push by the Aces. Edge ran for 153 yards and three scores against Somerset while anchoring the defense with sixteen tackles. Season so far: 145 carries for 1,065 yards and 18 touchdowns | 391 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns | 95 tackles | 13.5 TFL | 4.5 sacks | 3 forced fumbles 3
