As I approach one of those milestone birthdays that ends with a zero, I often look back fondly on certain teams and players.  The 1930 Phillies come to mind.

Pinky Whitney, 3B, ..342, 117 RBI

 

Finished last in the National League with a 52-102 record, 40 games out.   
 

The good old days  

 

Just like the Cubs of the 1960s that had middle of the line up that had 3 hall of famers (Ernie Banks, Billy Williams and Ron Santo) and had a Hall of Famer on the mound in Fergie Jenkins.  Never finished higher than second.

Baseball will humble anyone.
