The Knights of Lexington Catholic have a had an extra week of recovery following the loss to LCA. Brady Wasik has over 440 yards rushing and 440 yards passing (not to mention his 34 tackles and 3.5 sacks). He has been a beast thus far. Their host for this week is Garrard County. Their offense has been pretty stellar so far this year behind Justin Parsons' 7 passing touchdowns to 0 interceptions ratio and the rushing trio of Parsons, RJ Blair and Lucas Whitt. They have 29 points or more in each of their games. The downside is that they have given up over 50 points in both of their losses.

Is this an offensive explosion waiting to happen for Lexington Catholic? Can Garrard hang in there at home? Advantage to the Knights most likely but I think the Golden Lions of Garrard County can make this competitive at least going into halftime.

From Daniel Hopkins:

LEXINGTON CATHOLIC AT GARRARD COUNTY
Series: Lexington Catholic leads 11-4
Notes:
-Following last week's 40-0 win in the district opener at Casey County, Garrard County returns home to face Lexington Catholic in a key district matchup. Friday marks the first meeting between the two intermittent rivals since 2018. Lexington Catholic leads the overall series 11-4, having won 11 in a row after Garrard won the first 4 matchups.
-Lexington Catholic began playing football in 1991 and joined the same Class A district as Garrard County in 1993. In the 1993 game, Garrard scored 34 straight points to start the game, including two long Sheldon Burnside touchdown runs and a Michael Dailey punt return. Garrard's Dwayne May and Josh Gaffney each recovered blocked punts for touchdowns as the 4th-ranked Golden Lions piled up 377 yards (all on the ground) in a 54-13 romp. The Lions would finish the '93 season undefeated before falling to Bardstown in the regional final.
-Garrard County won the first four matchups with Lexington Catholic, the last a 33-14 victory at home in 1996. Quarterback Nick Sullivan ran for 108 yards and a touchdown as the Lions cruised, 33-14.
-This week is also homecoming at Garrard County High School. Garrard has won 5 straight homecoming games and 14 of their last 15. The Golden Lions have an all-time record of 41 wins and just 18 losses in homecoming games.
-GCHS's first homecoming was celebrated October 22, 1965. Garrard defeated Mercer County, 21-6, while Rita Renfro was crowned the school's first homecoming queen. In the game, Garrard County scored twice on turnovers in the third quarter - a Dickie Arnold 42-yard interception return and an Allen Blakeman 27-yard fumble return to secure the victory.
-Perhaps the most memorable homecoming game came 35 years ago on October 12, 1990 when the Golden Lions defeated Campbellsville, 21-14. Chasing their first playoff berth since 1967, Garrard's Keith Leavell scored with a minute left that, combined with Harrodsburg's upset of Frankfort, established a three-way tie that would ultimately result in the Lions' first trip to the postseason since 1967. Dana Davis was crowned homecoming queen.
