Finally got some time to watch this game and....

First thing. Applause to Lloyd for another very solid outting.

Second thing. Campbell County did not want to bang for four quarters. 4-5 kids that were really up for a fight and they know who they are. But I seen quite a few kids take plays off and leave their brothers out to hang and they know who they are too. I said this before, the eye in the sky don't lie. I don't know how some could give that effort and not be worried about the consequences when it comes time for the varsity to do their post game film review. I am sure Campbell's coaches have ridiculed them by now, or atleast I hope so. I was disappointed in their effort to say the least. If your one of the kids for Campbell that's playing with your heart in it, keep your head up! If your heart isn't in it, don't play a contact sport where your teammates livelihood depends on everyone involved.

Lloyd. Stop letting teams score at the end of the game when your varsity is out there. Lloyd's varsity kids need to understand that anytime they are on a field then the expectation should be that they do not let the other team score. They need to realize their still out there because the coaches see it as an oppurtunity for them to get better and test themselves, not just to look pretty when the final horn blows. Got to get rid of the mental lapses on these last drives of games. Nothing physically wrong here, but mentally they let their mind go somewhere else for just a minute and then boom now there on the wrong end of a highlight. Plain and simple. 2 weeks in a row now where their defense played pretty dern well but then end up on the other teams highlight reel on pretty much the last play of the game. C'mon, finish these Friday nights off strong. Can't play under those Friday night lights forever, make the most of it while you can

@DRKARK you care to hear what grade I give your Juggs this week? Might suprise you.

Who calls the defense for Lloyd?

I don't know but I would say they have done a phenomenal job along with the d line and the linebackers coach, I assume there all different. Whoever coaches the kicking teams also deserves alot of credit because they have turned that into a weapon by making a habit of pinning teams very close to their own endzone.

I have nitpicked Lloyd's defense but it's all really on the players to hold themselves accountable for what they want the finished product on the field to be like because the coaches have put them into great positions. I'll touch on some of that in my grade for the week.

They are like two peas in a pod honestly. lol.

So for a team that has done alot of things right this year you might think Lloyd would have been able to earn better than a C++ grade from me at some point so far.

Avg. scored for 43.6 ppg.

Avg. scored on 18.6 ppg.

25 pt. avg. win margin, not too bad. Especially at 6-0, I mean 5-0...sorry Pendleton.

Realistically Lloyd should have that 18.6 down to around 10, easily. It's an avg, some teams should score more than others and 0's account for a whole lot. Lloyd has skunked nobody. I know cutting out over 1+ TD's per game is easier said than done but in this scenario it's without a doubt the case. That's what I don't like, or I should say that's what concerns me. I would feel alot more confident in them if they were at that 10 avg. because it would prove they can prevent the preventable.

What concerns me is Lloyd is getting scored on about 2 times per game on plays where it just flat out shouldn't happen. Some of that is during meaningful times of the game, some during not so meaningful times but its still during varsity play. It concerns me because Lloyd's kids are perfectly capable of eliminating those plays but they haven't. It's basically 1v1 situations. Examples: MLB who should sack the QB but doesn't finish the play and it leads to a score, QB just beat MLB 1v1.  DB's being in position and not making plays on the ball and the WR scores, WR just beat DB 1v1.

Can't realistically expect that kids are going to be in perfect position 100% of the time because schemes do make things happen. But you can expect that when they are in position that they make the play 100% of the time.

Certain athletes make the expected play 100% of the time, that's what makes them different from the rest. They get that out of themselves because they have a full body of work. Part of that body of work is mentality, it's not just all physical. It's ingrained in them mentally that they will not let someone else get one over on them no matter the date, time or place. They have added hard work, proper preparation and a dawg mentality together and in return it equals a habit to not be beat. And it's contagious.

Lloyd's kids can tell themselves "I am not going to be beat" but until they have made that common practice over an extended period of time with proper preparation then it means nothing. You can't just turn it on and off and expect to have a consistent dawg mentality.

Whether it's the first play or the last play, Monday thru Sunday the best ones maintain that dawg mentality at all times. It's like a big brother never letting the little brother beat him in anything, some just don't let it happen. They will do whatever it takes to not let anybody one up them, ever. In competition..to some it doesn't matter if it's football or checkers, no matter how big or small the moment, you can't let someone slip away with some type of satisfaction over you when they are not suppose to because then you just lowered the bar for yourself.

That mentality separates contenders and pretenders.

Do I think Lloyd can fully establish that dawg mentality?

It's in the building for sure. I think they are playing hide and seek with it. They have it and then poof it's gone. There finger tips are right there trying to grasp it.

I think they are trying to fully tap into it. Without a doubt they have bought into the weight room. They look as if they are preparing properly. It's clear they have been working extremely hard for some years now which is a good foundation for it but they really need to decide if they are going to flip that switch on and leave it on at all the times. Or else that switch might not work when they need it to most. No one likes being stuck in the dark and you can't get the lights on.

Just based alone off their play in the box I want to give them an A @DRKARK but I got to give another C++.

  • Figure the secondary out, it is figure-out-able when you have the pieces like they do. Easy math here. 4 CB's played. 2 gave up 1v1 touchdowns where they had a chance to make plays, and it should have been 3 TD's. Lloyd's secondary made a few plays Friday but there were quite a few that weren't made that were concerning. Opposing QB's have been giving them plenty of oppurtunity to make plays. Teams watch film. Your only as strong as your weakest link. Their not going at #12 Griffin. Barger keeps doing alien like activities and QB's try to stay away from wherever his UFO is roaming but the way it orbits is insane.
  • Players need to finish off opponents the way they are suppose to. See what it feels like to really snatch a teams soul and then they will see how rewarding that dawg mentality actually is. It will carry over to facets of the game and life that are unforseen. It will give them the best chance to reach their long term season goals, which is?

They accomplish those 2 bulletin points with the way they have been playing and its an A for them everytime. I'm not just giving out A's for participation and effort though.

Is Lloyd contenders or pretenders?
