  • I love this orchestrated rivalry. As most people know, I’m a heavy admirer of the entire Central school, and think it’s a cool thing for the City kids to come to the mountains (do they bring that fant

  • I am leaning Belfry by a couple scores. Belfry is a team essentially in tact from 2024 and Central is a team having to play 7-8 new starters each way. Central has also historically struggled a li

Halftime Summary

Both teams came out very tight. Belfry got an INT on the first series and got deep into Central territory but an untimely penalty ultimately led to an empty possession. A Belfry turnover set Central up in prime real estate but they could not convert a 4th and Inches.

Belfry put together a pair of nice drives back to back but may have suffered an injury to their Senior FB JJ Austin.

Belfry's defense has ruled the day so far. Pirates' team speed has been a big problem for Central and Hunter Hylton has been the star of the Half. He has lived in the Central backfield and made their QB's life miserable.

Belfry gets the ball to open the 2nd Half and really needs to get back to driving the football. As well as the defense has played, the Pirates have had back to back 2nd Half collapses in the Pike County Bowl that have to be stuck in the back of the mind. Belfry has controlled the game but a 13-0 lead is certainly precarious. The play calling for Belfry has impressive at times but also maybe a little too cute at others. The Pirates look their best when they are sticking to the run but switching back and forth from the flexbone to the pistol. When they are throwing the ball after getting a few first downs it has looked a lot better than when they are trying to force feed the pass.

Short kick and Belfry will be in excellent field position at the C49.

Davis starts the Half at FB in place of Austin. Belfry can't convert a 3rd and 2 as Central creates penetration. Injured Yellowjacket as Belfry mulls a 4th Down decision.

Woolum stopped short on the sweep.. Central takes over.

Belfry defense rises to the occasion and forces a TFL on 3rd and 2.

Questionable decision by Central as they try to draw Belfry offside on a 4th and 4 and then elect to call a timeout. Not so sure about burning a timeout this early in the 2nd Half. Belfry breaks up the pass making the decision even more painful.

Belfry gives it right back on play action. Varney went for the TD pass instead of throwing to the open man sooner for a nice chunk play. The Central Safety makes a great play to pick it and return it to the B38. Louisville Central burns their 2nd timeout after not liking their alignment.

Central making an effort to get speed outside as they go to the end around look for the 2nd time. Flag flies.. decision for Belfry is they want a 4th and Short or a 3rd and Long. Pirates elect to take the holding call. 3rd and 15. Belfry misses a pick 6 by the slimmest of margins but it slips through Eli Caudill's hands as he jumps it. 4th and Long.

Deep throw is knocked in the air and Central gets hands on it but the Belfry safety cleans up the play by dislodging the football. Turnover on Downs.

Really want to see Belfry get back to sticking with the run but showing some formation changes. I also have seen the option a total of one time and it went for a TD save for a holding call down field.

This could be a backbreaker drive if Belfry could march it down the field here.

Questionable decision by Varney to slide a yard shy of the sticks when he had room to get the 1st Down. doesn't hurt them as they convert.. so far I am getting my wish.. pistol dive to FB, pistol QB keep on the counter option, and flexbone FB belly.

Belfry 1st Down inside the 30... I am liking this drive so far. Pop pass, jet sweep, QB keep off edge all out of pistol.

2nd and 8 they go tight formation out of the pistol and run the jet sweep pop, back to double tight flexbone and convert to the 14 with the FB.... Immediately back to pistol and Davis gashes the defense on the dive 14 yards TOUCHDOWN BELFRY. Conversion by Woolum.

THIS is the ticket to Belfry's success this year!!!! That is a lethal offense.

Central now in a tough spot. They need to pop a big play. The Jackets have really struggled to sustain success stringing together first downs and Belfry's defensive speed and penetration has caused them havoc. Belfry does them a solid with a short pop up kickoff that they return to their own 46... don't like that.

Central forcing things and chuck a deep pass that Belfry intercepts at around their own 25.

Amazing catch by Eli Caudill over two defenders as he gets a tip toe down on the sideline. 1st and 10 at 36.
