When he was 'The Man' for Newport as an 8th Grader he already had some serious game face and moves. He was given (or gave himself) free reign to do just about anything that he wanted too and more times than not he had it going on. Maybe somewhat of a ball hog but I'm guessing that time, maturity, and tougher opponents have taken care of that while at Winton Woods, Taft, or in the AAU. The only other time I saw him play was at U.S. Bank Arena and he had a sub-par day but I believe that he still has it. I totally agree with D1. I could almost see the NBA in his face when he was at Newport. Who knows he may surprise us all and end up there if he wants it bad enough. If you got it, take it to the limit. Does anybody know it he still chomps on his gum the cool way that he used to???

I knew "Herky" growing up. We played AAU together and against each other. He was always a phenomenal athlete and was very long. I think he could dunk in the 7th grade. When he was in the 8th grade he was already Newport's best player. Then him and his mother moved to Ohio and he went to Winton Woods and then Taft.

I'm not sure how good his grades were, but I'm guessing that was his reason for going to a prep school. He'll definitely play somewhere after he gets out of there.

Herky's mother never did move into Ohio when he attended Winton Woods and Taft. From my memory an uncle gained custody so he could legally begin playing basketball at Winton Woods. Also yes grades were the reason he is now attending Prep School he had to hit the books in a more serious matter so he can play at a big time program in the near future.

You are correct. He lived in a Newport apartment complex with his mother and then moved across the river to live with his uncle. Sorry about that.
