1946 Northern Kentucky Regional Tournament

If what I'm reading is correct from the Cincinnati Enquirer, I think what they're saying is that teams elected to enter the tournament. I found an Enquirer article from May 20, 1946 that says the 1946 regional had "the largest number of schools ever to enter the tourney, they will try to represent this section in the state play which opens at Louisville June 3 and 4. Twelve teams, with seven representing the Northern Kentucky Conference and five the Catholic League, will compete. Fayne Grone, Newport Wildcat head coach, is tournament manager. The winner will meet the winner of the Maysville tournament May 28 with this champion moving on to the state play, he said."

First Round
Covington Catholic (First Round Bye)
Newport Catholic (First Round Bye)
Silver Grove (First Round Bye)
St. Henry (First Round Bye)
Newport 7 Ludlow 1
Bellevue 7 Dayton 4
Covington Holy Cross 3 Ludlow St. James 1
Beechwood 9 Simon Kenton 0 (Forfeit)
Simon Kenton's team didn't show for the game...and evidently that awarded Beechwood with a 9-0 win?

Second Round
Bellevue 6 Newport 3
Beechwood 8 Covington Holy Cross 4
Newport Catholic 20 St. Henry 2
Silver Grove 5 Covington Catholic 1

Semifinals
Bellevue 8 Silver Grove 2
Newport Catholic 7 Beechwood 3

Finals
Newport Catholic 10 Bellevue 1

Newport Catholic ended up moving on to beat Brookville 5-0 to win the 5th Regional Championship in their next game following the win over Bellevue, per the Courier Journal.
