Notes and Observations

โ€ข Trinity holds firm at #1 after beating Male, Sayre, and Somerset a combined 20-3. UofL commit Nolan Hosking hit three home runs and drove in seven for the week. The Rocks dealt #3 Sayre its first loss of the season behind six innings, four hits, and one run allowed by Gray Davis.

โ€ข PRP jumps three spots to #2. Last year's state champions improved to 9-0 after surviving a 12-11 barnburner against #9 LexCath. The Panthers have won 23 straight games dating back to last season.

โ€ข Ballard's Lucas Niemeyer no-hit Manual in a five inning mercy rule win for the Bruins. His offensive counterpart was Eli Frith, who delivered three hits and drove in seven of Ballard's eleven runs.

โ€ข South Warren and McCracken County remain poll neighbors, as each moved up four places to numbers 6 and 7, respectively. The Spartans got homers from Camden Page and WKU commit Ethan Reynolds to beat emerging 2nd Region contender Christian County.

โ€ข The week's biggest mover was Madison Central, who leapt eight spots to #16. The Indians utilized small ball to defeat #18 Great Crossing, 6-3, for their biggest win of the season so far. All three of their losses are to ranked teams.

โ€ข Lyon County, Somerset, and University Heights share the dubious honor of biggest loser, each falling six places in the poll. The Lyons and Jumpers combined to go 0-4 in last week's PBK Invitational, albeit against top competition, including the top two ranked teams in the state.

โ€ข The only newcomer to the rankings is #25 Henry Clay, fresh off a 4-0 week. The Devils wore out the basepaths against Madison Southern, successfully swiping all nine bags they attempted.

Reynolds (SW) broken hand and probably out til regional tourney. WKU commitโ€™s injury hurts them badly. He can swing it big time.ย
