Colonels (KY #24) making their first trip to Rupp since 1999. They'll take on Cooper (KY #6) in Round 1.

It was a very physical championship game in Madisonville last night.  Both teams defended well in the first half and both were aided by the fact that only 2 fouls were called in the first 16 minutes.  Henderson was in control early but Madisonville made some impressive defensive stops and put the game within striking distance trailing 17-14 at half.  In the second half, however, the story became the defense of the Colonels.  Henderson County created multiple turnovers that led to offense on the other end.  After leading 28-21 at the end of the 3rd, the Colonels controlled the tempo and the game the rest of the way.  Henderson County made 13-16 FT in the final minutes as the Maroons had to foul to play catch up. 

Henderson County was led in scoring by senior Cooper Davenport with 14 points, and sophomore point guard Xavion Johnson with 13 points.  Starters Dwaine Moss, Elijah Suggs and Lacon McKinney chipped in 9,8 and 6 respectively.  

Madisonville's Ryan Bryant led the Maroons with 9 points and Kanyon Johnson added 8.
