How does a school the size of Warren Central have absolutely no success in girls’ basketball?   No wins, tournament game forfeited.  And the woes go back a few years.  

The school’s demographics don’t lend themselves to it, is probably the biggest factor. And the programs have been so bad that they simply bleed players to other schools before they ever reach Central. They’ve really been bad in every girls program for a long time now. There’s nothing to attract them to the school. 
 

Everyone knows the boys basketball program, and their boys soccer program is solid too. But they’re basically propping up the entire school’s athletics program.

I understand that malaise can set in over time and cause a diaspora.  I just figured that a school this size could still find and develop a couple dozen girls that could compete against somebody.  We’re not talking about Cloverport here.

I don't think it should be as bad as it is - as in, they shouldn't be in a position to cancel the entire last month.  They do have some dynamics going on behind the scenes, it seems, in addition to their other challenges.  But it's been a long time since they were really a threat to do much.  2021 had some momentum, but it didn't work out.  They haven't been to a region tournament in 12 years, haven't won a game at region in 21.  The shift was already taking place before South Warren came to be, but that was the death knell.  That 2013 region tournament appearance was the last senior class that had reached Warren Central before South Warren was built.

I don't mean to make South Warren the bogeyman every time these topics come up, but the way that school was districted dropped a figurative bomb on Central, and they've never recovered.  They may never recover.  But with the girls programs, that was definitely in motion before that.
