The Double Deuce Posted January 20 Posted January 20 As you can probably guess, this is being posted at Halftime of the Bills vs Ravens' game. Thought it was a good time to review my notes and upcoming schedules for this week's Ranking. First and foremost, congrats to Holy Cross, Walton-Verona, and Bishop Brossart for winning their Region All A Tournaments and advancing to the All A Classic this week down in Owensboro. As I'm sure everyone reading this remembers, Holy Cross is the two-time defending State Champion of the All A Classic, and they are rewarded with about the toughest path you could have, getting state Top 10 Bethlehem to kick it off on Wednesday. Good luck to all 3 teams and safe travels down and back. While this past week was relatively without drama or surprise outcomes, the big schools (non All A) have a LOT of great games this coming week, so I'm looking forward to seeing how many of these will unfold. Campbell County is a team I've been bullish on this year, and they get to show us who they are this week with games vs Cooper and Notre Dame. Cooper also gets a great test with Franklin County, the 2A State Champion. Dixie gets a mid-week game in Louisville at Sacred Heart (gulp), and Ryle has the week of weeks, getting Highlands, Manual, and Sacred Heart. Sounds like a fun week for our Non All A programs. Stay warm and get out to watch all of these great games in nice, warm, gyms! 1. Holy Cross 18-1 (3-0 this week): vs Bethlehem at the All A Classic in Owensboro, and perhaps another 3 games down there. 2. Cooper 9-3 (3-0): at Conner, at #4 Campbell County, at Boone, and vs Franklin County at Mercy. 3. Simon Kenton 12-3 (0-1): vs Meade County at Mercy. 4. Campbell County 10-3 (2-0): vs #2 Cooper, at #6 Notre Dame, at Fleming County. 5. Dixie 8-4 (2-0): vs NewCath, at Sacred Heart, vs Ursuline (OH), and at Ludlow. 6. Notre Dame 9-3 (1-0): vs Grant County, vs #4 Campbell County, and vs Wayne (WV) at Ashland. 7. Bishop Brossart 12-4 (4-0): vs Louisville Holy Cross at the All A Classic in Owensboro, and perhaps another 3 games. 8. Highlands 13-4 (1-1): at Ryle 9. Walton-Verona 12-5 (3-0): vs Danville Christian at the All A Classic in Owensboro, and perhaps another 3 games. 10. Scott 9-6 (1-1): at Beechwood, vs Augusta, and MAYBE vs Walton-Verona on Friday night per Wednesday's result for WV. ===================================================== * NewCath 10-8 (1-2): at Dixie, at Assumption, and vs Bellevue * Grant County 9-6 (1-1): at Notre Dame, vs Spencer County at Henry County * Ryle 4-10 (1-1): vs Highlands, at Boone County, vs Conner, vs Manual at Mercy, and at Sacred Heart * Conner 4-10 (2-1): vs Cooper, vs Lloyd, and at Ryle * St. Henry 6-10 (1-3): vs Ursula (OH), and vs Beechwood 1
1992Rebel Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I’m a little surprised to see Campbell County so high; didn’t they lose to NCC? I guess the NDA game will possibly confirm or help to correct that this week. I think Holy Cross will beat Bethlehem seeing that NDA beat them by double digits in the pre season scrimmages. We will see.

They have been playing consistently better since then, but you're right, their game at NDA this week should clarify a great deal. Simon Kenton is Bethlehem's only regular season loss, a game I'm sure Coach Arlinghaus has watched a time or two in the last couple of days. NDA beating them at Franklin County in November was impressive, just not sure how much from that game Coach Murphy would be willing to share. Ha! 1
