Hey I know you are the man @nWojust a quick question I just came across a post from Jude Redfield from Louisville's WDRB and he posted the Canadian Model and it showed most of the state. The amount of snowfall was a good bit more than I had seen. It has us receiving 3.1" in northern Kentucky to 4" between Lexington and Morehead. It has just under 2.5" in very southern central Kentucky. I was just curious how accurate this model usually is. If this were to happen and with the very cold temperatures headed our way the first of the week would not be good.

I'm seeing maybe an inch in northern Kentucky. 1-3 inches in my area. There appears to be another storm coming to end the week. Without getting too technical, the NAM (3 km) and HRRR have much better resolution than the GFS and NAM. The 3 km means the resolution is down to 3 kilometers, while the NAM is 12 kilometers. That means the lower NAM (3 km) provides a much more detailed and localized weather forecast.

Thanks below is the link to the Canadian model I saw. I just didn’t know much about this model. I hope it is the lower amount.

One thing to note. The Canadian and GFS are global models. The NAM is a regional model. I go to the NAM or HRRR for a better look at winter and severe weather. They are better at narrowing down to a smaller area.

Here are the models that I am showing that I use mainly. They are the 12z run.

The Canadian showed this at the 00z run, which is 8 pm last night, so it is about 12 hours behind the other ones.
