Statewide Rankings: Week 6

Featured Replies

First the Media poll:

1. St. X (16 FPV)
2. Great Crossing
3. Frederick Douglass
4. Bryan Station
5. Marshall County [Up 1]
6. Covington Catholic [Down 1]
7. Manual [Up 1]
8. Hazard [Down 1]
9. George Rogers Clark
10. Green County
11. Warren Central
12. Woodford County
13. Ballard
14. Male
15. Bowling Green [Up 1]
16. Calloway County [Down 1]
17. Lloyd Memorial
18. LaRue County [Up 9]
19. Butler [Up 2]
20. Ashland [Up 4]
21. PRP [Down 3]
22. Jeffersontown [Down 1]
23. South Laurel [Down 5]
24. Harlan County [Up 1]
T-25. Adair County [Down 7]
T-25. Clinton County [Down 3]

*Top 4 hold steady
*Frankly, I find it a bit fascinating that among the top 16 there were three pairs where they swapped spots.  None of these teams lost.  Manual didn't even PLAY.
*Otherwise, little movement except in the "receiving votes" area, which comprises 16-T-25.

*We have a consensus #1 with St. X, who continued to earn every FPV in the media poll and across each of our monitored polls.  We also have a consensus #2 (Great Crossing) and #3 (Frederick Douglass).  Bryan Station just narrowly misses a consensus ranking of #4, dropped to 5 by KSR in favor of Marshall County.  Still, all polls agree on four of the top five.

*16 teams were rated in every poll, and an additional 8 in three out of four.  Kentucky High School Sports Zone was responsible for the ommision of six of those eight, including leaving out Green County, who would have been a consensus top 10 team otherwise, and Ballard, who was rated as highly as 8th.

*We had five unicorns (a team that was rated by only a single outlet) - and keeping in line with that previous note about Kentucky High School Sports Zone, they were responsible for every last one of them.  Newport (KYHSZ 13), Boyd County (KYHSZ 15), Trinity (KYHSZ 20), Henry Clay (KYHSZ 22), and Spencer County (KYHSZ 25) were those teams.  Trinity, in particular, feels like a leap of faith to this point in time.

*The 16 teams that were consensus rated:

St. Xavier
Great Crossing
Frederick Douglass
Bryan Station
Covington Catholic
Hazard
Manual
Marshall County
George Rogers Clark
Woodford County
Lloyd Memorial
Warren Central
Calloway County
Ashland
South Laurel
LaRue County

*LaRue County earns the honor of most barely consensus rated - coming in at 25 in both Nations Elite and KSR.

*In addition to the four teams mentioned as consensus top 5, Covington Catholic, Hazard, and Manual were also consensus top 10 teams.  Marshall County almost joined as well, being rated 8th or higher in three polls, but those pesky voters at Kentucky High School Sports Zone had the undefeated Marshals rated 17th.

How is Cooper not ranked?!?!  They just beat Lloyd…..I said it at the beginning of the season when they were ranked #3 pre-season in the 9th region and I felt it was then and still is not too low and that they are underrated big time….
