Notes:

-Clinton County stays hot, winning another holiday tournament and they remain the last unbeaten team in the region, moving to 13-0 with a trio of wins.  This is their best start since the 1981/82 season when they opened 19-0, which also serves as the longest win streak for the team in their history.  Peeking at their schedule, they should be favored to do well in their next several games, which also includes the All A regional tournament.  That means likely their greatest barrier to breaking the 19-0 record is the All A state tournament where the 4th Region representative will meet the 7th Region representative.

-Their 16th District rival, Cumberland County, has gone the opposite direction.  The Panthers opened 4-0 but saw their unbeaten run end at the hands of Clinton County.  Since then, they've lost three of five. Their 8th place ranking is more a testament to the weakness of the teams behind them, and an acknowledgement of what increasingly looks like an outlier win over Adair County to open the season.

-Warren Central ends the season on a five game win streak to move to 9-1 on the season before the end of the calendar year.  Last season they got their 9th win on February 6th.  Their 58-45 win over Male - albeit a Bulldog team missing their best player Cole Edelen - is their most impressive yet.  The Dragons got Kash Carter back as well, and he scored 11 in his season debut on 5 of 8 shooting against University Heights.  Central still has two more pieces who will become eligible this month.

-The 14th District opens up district play this Friday as Warren Central hosts South Warren and Bowling Green travels to Greenwood.  The four teams in the district (at least those who are postseason eligible) are a combined 37-7 to this point, which is why they are rated in four of the top six spots for the region. These are also very big benchmark games.  Warren Central and Bowling Green have been atop the region so long that no one on any team in the region would have memories of when one of the two didn't win the region title.  South Warren is 1-30 against Warren Central all-time, with only one of their last nine matchups decided by single digits. Greenwood is 3-38 in their last 41 games against Bowling Green, and this game carries special importance because it is at Greenwood, where all three wins in that span came. They have lost 18 in a row at Bowling Green (where they meet in three weeks from this Friday's game), so if they wish to make a move on the Purples, this game is very important.  Friday will tell us just how much separation there is in the region.

-The 15th District top seed may well be decided on Friday as well, when Warren East visits Barren County.  Warren East won their first matchup in December, but they've allowed the door to be opened after they inexplicably dropped a contest against Glasgow.  Glasgow could of course make some noise of their own, as they'll play Barren County twice and Warren East once in January, but the winner of the East/Barren matchup - particularly if it is Barren, may have a stranglehold on the top spot.  Trojan Gym has often proven challenging for East, as they've dropped three of their last four there.  A win for East would give them the season sweep, and would mean a defeat of Glasgow in their January meeting would likely be enough to give them the #1 seed.  A win for Barren County would put the Trojans in complete control of their destiny.

District Matchups:
--13th District - None
--14th District - 1/3 #6 South Warren at #1 Warren Central, 1/3 #2 Bowling Green at #3 Greenwood
--15th District - 1/3 #5 Warren East at #7 Barren County, 1/3 #14 Glasgow at #11 Allen County-Scottsville
--16th District - 1/3 #12 Metcalfe County at #4 Clinton County, 1/3 #15 Monroe County at #9 Russell County
