One of the worst tornado outbreaks ever recorded in the United States struck the Midwest, Ohio Valley, and Tennessee Valley from the evening hours on December 10 into the morning hours on December 11, 2021. What made this tornado outbreak even more unusual was that it occurred in the month of December, and is easily the worst tornado outbreak ever during that month. Dozens of tornadoes affected Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama, killing 87 people and injuring dozens of others.

My wife and two of our children and their families survived the Bowling Geen tornado.

Crazy night. I'll never forget it. We had found out we were having our daughter that Monday. I stayed up until I think 3 or 4am to make sure the one monster cell wasn't going to impact us in Louisville.

Coverage from that night.

It was an eventful week for us, putting the Bowling Green tornado aside. My wife was in Bowling Green because our daughter was scheduled to have surgery earlier in the week. At the beginning of the week, my wife had a stroke the day before our daughter's surgery. Our daughter had her surgery, so both my wife and daughter were in the hospital at the same time. The tornado hit the day after both of them were home at our daughter's house.

I actually was sleeping here in Richmond. My phone went crazy about 20 minutes before the tornado hit and woke me up. I have a special warning area set up for Warren County.  I called my wife and kids and gave them the warning.

WBKO tornado coverage from 12/10-11,2021. The station lost power right as the tornado entered Bowling Green. It's at the end of the video.

Some pictures from the Bowling Green tornado. It went through the Creekwood subdivision where my daughter used to live.
