Greenwood Gators (5-5) | Graves County Eagles (8-2, 5A #8)

? Two of 5A's peripheral, perennial winners will meet to decide who gets to take a swipe at South Warren in the second round. These are quality programs that have never quite taken the top off like their more decorated neighbors and rivals.

The Eagles are soaring, winners of five straight since the second of their two blowout losses and averaging 42 ppg over their last four.

Greenwood needs a win to avoid its first losing season in five years, but they'll have to shore up a defense that's been vulnerable against both the run and pass this year.

Graves County's Kaden Gregory (1,900 total yards/25 TDs) and Lincoln Acree (675 receiving yards/9 TDs) will look to exploit that unit.

A ball control offense featuring a heavy dose of Cayden Schwarzkopf (1,022 rushing yards) may be in order for the Gators.

Series History ?: Graves County leads 6-2 since 1998, including last year's 22-7 win the first round of the playoffs.

Graves county has 3 wide receivers that can be explosive. If Acree gets a step on you over the top your in trouble. But Graves likes is a very balanced offense. They also tend to start a little slow but pick up steam in 2nd half of games. I haven't seen Greenwood play this year so its hard for me to make a great prediction. I look for Graves to win this one but I expect a dog fight.

I think Graves wins pretty easily. I think Greenwood is an average team that has became a less than average team as the year has progressed. I really thought they would win last week against UC and they didn’t even really compete. I see Graves winning this one 35-13.
