Mason County Indoor

Featured Replies

Mason County hosted an indoor meet yesterday; there are one or two more scheduled (I think one may be a MS meet).

Nice to be able to participate in indoor track and not have to drive to the center of the state.

Even though he's not in mid-season form yet, watching Crys (sp?) Jones of Mercer triple-jump is something.

Our team plans on running in the Feb. 10th meet . They also have a MS meet scheduled on the 17th of Feb.From what I heard yesterday at UK there may be a few more Louisville teams coming to the 2-10 meet. A National Federation rule about competing against non HS sanctioned athletes (Oak Hill type schools & unattached track athletes) is making it hard to find legal meets. I do like the fact that it is a team scored meet in which we can run our whole team. it will be a new type venue and I hope the kids enjoy it !:D

Are there any results from the UK meet held yesterday?:flame:

Looking forward to seeing more schools in February. A couple of things to remember:

11:00 AM start means that folks can travel without spending the night (although Maysville does have a few nice motels).

Track is 150 meters and is a non-banked concrete surface. Takes some getting used to for all intermediate races. Not a factor in 55-m races (straightaway); not much of a factor races over 800m. Can be a little slick. I had heard that some sort of sand would be "glued" to the track, but that hasn't happened. The surface and tight turns aren't conducive to record-setrting performances, but this is a nice opportunity to get in some work before the M-D games.

Very nice of Mr. M. to provide Finish Lynx timing.

The LJ/TJ arrangement isn't half bad; I've seen some indoor meets where the jumps can only be contested as standing jumps but Mason built a runup and pit that will accomodate regulation LJ and TJ events.

It was nice to see neighboring Fleming County bring a bunch to the meet - especially lots of boys that I hadn't seen before. Looked to me like they had several of their FB players participating.

Sure would like to see a similar trend here at Mason County.:thumb:
