A Glorious Weekend of Football

This past weekend was one glorious weekend of football.

There will be some moving and shaking on The List as teams get more and more exposed with each passing week.

We’re going to jump right into The List this week!

REAL TEAMS:

Baltimore Ravens-the Ravens are now 2-2 with their demolishing of the Buffalo Bills on Sunday Night Football. King Henry ruled over his subjects and had the Bills defenders in fear all night long.  King Henry ran for almost 200 yards and had two touchdowns as the Ravens won 35-10.   The Ravens have arrived to the party and appear ready to be a Real Team now.   They face the Bengals next in Cincinnati.

Washington Commanders-the Commanders were a Fake Team last week but they appear ready to be a Real Team at the moment.  Led by rookie sensation Jayden Daniels the Commanders are 3-1 and sitting atop the NFC East standings.  Yes we are 4 weeks into the season.  I get that.  At the same time if you said Washington was going to be 3-1 and that Jayden Daniels was going to be setting completion percentage records for a rookie in his first month of play, well, that leads me to quote the greatest rapper of all time, Jay-Z, when he says, “we don’t believe you, you need more people.”

The Commanders do look legit.  They need Jayden Daniels to slide a lot more than he has been.  We know how that story ends. Real Team………..for now.

Buffalo Bills-they looked bad on Sunday but they’ll still be dominant this season.

Kansas City Chiefs-lost Rashee Rice likely for the year after Mahomes fell into his leg. They still find ways to win as they continue their journey to three-peat.

Houston Texans-escaped with a comeback victory over the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars.

Pittsburgh Steelers-here by default because they are still in first place in the AFC North.  Can’t be losing to Joe Flacco if they plan to remain a Real Team.

Minnesota Vikings-Sam Darnold for MVP?  Defense is looking strong and Darnold is getting better and more confident every week.

Detroit Lions-great win over Seattle last night.  Offense is looking potent with the emergence of Jameson Williams.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Baker Mayfield for MVP?  Y’all told me Baker was washed and this man has led the Bucs to a 3-1 start this season.

Seattle Seahawks-took their first loss last night and are leading an injured and depleted NFC West division.

FAKE TEAMS:

New York Jets-maybe I am wrong and way off base but I just don’t believe in the Jets. I feel like last year’s injury took a toll on Rodgers and I don’t think they are as good as people want them to be.  They really haven’t shown me much yet this season.

Cincinnati Bengals-they finally got a win but Baltimore is coming to town this weekend.  Must win situation for Cincinnati if they plan to salvage this season.  A win can give them some momentum to become a Real Team at some point.

Indianapolis Colts-I don’t know anything about Anthony Richardson’s health right now.  I like this team better with Joe Flacco leading it right now.   Richardson still has some learning and growing to do.

Denver Broncos-this defense is going to buy Bo Nix some time to grow and learn.  Like Richardson and Bryce Young he could use some time on the sidelines to learn more.  His situation doesn’t call for that.  The defense has been impressive with back to back wins on the road against Tampa Bay and the New York Jets. Still a Fake Team though.

Los Angeles Chargers-gave the Chiefs a great game.  Justin Herbert is hobbling. Their run game isn’t bad at all and their defense is above average.  I feel like this is their ceiling.

Dallas Cowboys-something about them.  Not quite sure yet but there’s something about them that doesn’t sit right with me.  Micah Parsons and Demarcus Lawrence are both hurt also.

Philadelphia Eagles-just gonna leave them here until they get Devonte Smith and AJ Brown back.  I know folks will continue to dunk on Jalen Hurts and that’s fine.  The Eagles won’t win without their wide receivers on the field.  Fake Team they are.

Green Bay Packers-Jordan Love is back.  I expect them to be a Real Team in a couple of weeks.

Atlanta Falcons-self explanatory.  They’ll be competitive.  Not Real Team status at this particular time.

New Orleans Saints-see the Atlanta Falcons

San Francisco 49ers-Real Team potential but not when they are injured.  If they can get healthy we’ll see what they got.

Los Angeles Rams-I was hesitant to make them a Fake Team but much like the 49ers their fate is determined by injuries.  I don’t think they have Real Team potential though.

Arizona Cardinals-I’m giving them one more week to prove they aren’t a Real Fake Team.   They feel suspect.

REAL FAKE TEAMS:

New England Patriots-missing Tom Brady

Miami Dolphins-just putrid without Tua.   I know folks love to say Tua isn’t a good QB but clearly he is much better than he gets credit for.

Cleveland Browns-Deshaun Watson.

Tennessee Titans-Will Levis and his backup Mason Rudolph.

Jacksonville Jaguars-Sunshine is not shining.

Las Vegas Raiders-Garrett Minshew is the QB and Davante Adams is quiet quitting the Raiders.  Trade that man.

New York Giants-granted they are playing better than I expected.  I’ll give them that.

Chicago Bears-I have no beef with Caleb Williams. He’s just a rookie learning on the job.  They are 2-2 at the moment.

Carolina Panthers-??‍♂️

My Lock of the Week last week was the Pittsburgh Steelers at -1.5.  In fairness when I made this lock I was anticipating a full game of Anthony Richardson.  I likely would have avoided this game if Joe Flacco was the starter.  As a result I am now on a 3 week skid as the Colts defeated the Steelers 27-24 last Sunday.

My record for the season is looking like the Bengals now as I sit at 1-3-0 and I am now 16-7-1 overall.  Smh.  So disappointing.

Anyways, on to the next!!!!

This week is looking spicy but have no fear.  I have looked high and low, far and wide and the motivation to get a bounce back victory is high.

Minnesota is a -2.5 favorite against the Jets and while I do kind of like that spread this is a London game.  They are also at -148 on the money line.

Favorites in the London game are 21-11-1 when their money line is taken.

Favorites in the London game are 17-16 against the spread.

*Stats are from the Odds Shark website*

This week my Lock of the Week is going to be the Minnesota Vikings on the money line.  I have slight concerns on their ability to cover the spread in London so I am going to lock them in on the money line and try to get off the snide this week.

I feel like their defense will be strong enough to win the game for them.  See up above for my thoughts on the Jets.

If you choose to take the spread in this game I would lock it in early at -2.5 before it gets to -3.

The money line will be a bigger unit play for me but I plan to sprinkle the spread a little.  I just can’t get behind locking up the spread.

My Underdog of the Week plays have been better than my Locks so far this year.

The Minnesota Vikings were my choice last week as a +2.5 point underdog against the Packers.  The Vikings won outright moving my Underdog spread choices to 3-2 on the season and my money line sprinkles to 2-3.

My Underdog of the Week is going to play early this week.

Yep, that’s right.

My Underdog of the Week is none other than the Baker Mayfield led Tampa Bay Buccaneers at +2.5 against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday Night Football.

I will be taking the 2.5 points given to the Bucs and I look for them to win this game in Atlanta so the money line will be sprinkled in this one as well.

Thursday Night Football games are notorious for being badly played football games due to the short turnaround.

If bad football is going to be played between these two division rivals then I want the Bucs at this moment.

Kirk Cousins is 13-20 in prime time games for his career.

Underdog of the Week, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at +2.5 and +108 on the money line.

That’s all I have for this week.  Thank you for checking out Jason’s Jewels!!!  I hope you enjoyed it!  Good luck if you are tailing my picks this week!  Let’s get back to winning!

Y’all be easy! ✌?

The Ravens played angry on Sunday and it was obvious they made a point not to take the foot off the gas. That's been there MO for what feels like five seasons now.

Finding a groove with Henry and Lamar will be crucial. If they can do that, they will be a problem.

Their defense is still suspect, IMO.

Agree with all of this!
