Tuesday Game of the Day

We have 2 of the annual top ranked 9th Region programs in Men's soccer going toe to toe on Tuesday night on Dixie Highway.  These 2 already faced one another in the Preseason Soccerama game with Highlands prevailing 3-2.  As we all know this isn't Soccerama.  This means more!

Dixie is coming into this game going a nice 9-1 in their last 10 games after starting the season 0-4.  Their only loss was from the hands of the 9th region powerhouse Cov Cath with a 5-0 result in that span.  They have 2 HUGE NKY (and 1 win against a Cincy team) in their last 5 games when they beat up St. Henry 4-1 (St. Henry upset Cov Cath), blanked Cooper 3-0 and also squeezed out a victory against Ohio Elder 1-0.....those 3 wins REALLY impresses me right now.

Dixie has a nice balanced scoring team with 7 players having scored 2 or more goals with Trevor Bolte leading the way with 7, Donovan Lameier is the leading assist leader for the team with 6 on the season.

As a team Dixie has scored 30 goals and given up 20 in their 14 matches so far.

Highlands has had an interesting season so far trying to find the back of the net.  They currently have a 3-3-3 record.  With their biggest resume accomplishment I would say is the Draw that they just had with Cov Cath on Thursday giving up a late PK, to have the final 1-1.  They also tied a McNick team who beat Cov Cath earlier in the year.  Highlands week spot right now is finding goals!  You throw out the anomaly (outlier game) win against NCC when they dominated and won 5-1, the Birds have only scored 8 goals in the other 8 games....the silver lining is they haven't given up many goals only being scored on 9 times in those 8 games.  Highlands has been led by Harrison Gamble offensively who really had a fun game against NCC scoring 4 out of the 5 goals that night.  Really need him to be on his game on Tuesday to show the other Birds how it is done.

As @kyag stated on the Week preview thread Dixie hasn't beat Highlands since any of these players in this game have been alive, let that sink in.  You would probably have to go back in time to the 1990's to find a win by Dixie.  Unfortunately, I lost my library card to go look on Microfiche in the Hilltopper archives at Highlands to find the answer to "When was the last time Dixie won?"  I do know it has been done before just don't know the exact year back in the day.  If anyone can find out this answer a BIG KUDOS to you, fill us in....

3 out of the last 4 meetings have been extremely close for Dixie to finally get that "W", 1 of those times they did pull out the TIE.

2023:  Highlands won 1-0

2022:  Highlands/Dixie tie 2-2

2021:  Highlands won 4-1

2020:  Highlands won 1-0

Mother nature needs to relax a bit on Tuesday night, rain is in the forecast all day on Tuesday BUT should clear up for the game in the evening....feathers crossed.

OK, who you all have???  You know who I got!  Da Birds!!!

Great job @FrankNicodemus...I took the easy way out and went with the draw.  Looking forward to watching this one on Tuesday night.

It looks like the bad weather is quickly moving out of the area, there may be a stray black cloud for the next hour or so that might impact the Fresh/JV games, but by Varsity game time 8pm we should be under very ideal soccer conditions.

69 degrees, 15% chance of rain....for the rest of the evening....bring a light jacket, might be a little on the chilly side after this rain front cooled down things a bit.

Highlands 2 Dixie Heights 1…the losing streak continues for the Colonels verses the Blue Birds. That is an impressive streak of over 20 years. Nice goals by Gamble…he bullied his way through the Colonels defense.
