Paris Greyhounds (1-0, 1A #6) | Paintsville Tigers (1-0)

’Former 1A Kings Striving For Return To Past Glory’

After running circles around Paintsville last year in Paris, historic Memorial Field in Paintsville awaits the visiting Greyhounds this time. And they're bringing their #6 state ranking with them. Paris has made itself at home in the top ten since early last season.

Both teams flashed some defense in Week 1, holding their opponents to six points each. That's a drastic improvement for Paintsville, in particular, who allowed four scores or more in 7 of 11 games last year.

The question is, was Week 1 a mirage for the Tigers, or have they progressed enough in one year to potentially wipe away last season's 46 point loss to the Hounds?

I played against Paris in 1984 and Paintsville in 1985.  Both were excellent football teams at the top of 1A.  The good old days...

Randy Reese and Walter Bruh.... two giants among coaches. Tyquan Rice and Trevor Hoskins have a long way to go, but they're young and hopefully have many years ahead of them at small schools with strong traditions.
