Was Dixie's defense that terrible or Lucas Jr. really has that offense clicking?

Both.  If half the passes weren't overthrown, they would've scored 100+.

Oh yeah I did see you say that earlier. Could be a long year for Dixie, alot of high scoring games? Or you thought it was correctable on Dixie's end?

SK had 4 or 5 dropped passes that would have turned into scores. Offense is good but not clicking yet. SK defense did a great job last night. Made stops when they needed to. SK defense needs to start playing man to man defense. Whatever zone defense they run is terrible.

I don't want to bash anyone, but I think it's coaching.  It's poor scheme, even worse technique, and lack of conditioning.  The staff seems unorganized during the games last year and again this year.  Who goes for a QB sneak inside your own 30 on 4th and 3 when you are only down 1 score?

Based on what I saw last night, they are going to be lucky to win 3 games this season.

I hope I'm wrong and they figure it out.

Cool pics.

Random question, not sure where to put it but always wondered and no official has been able to give me a definitive answer and it's regarding stiff-arms.

1.  Why is a ball carrier the only person allowed to touch a facemask of an opposing player?

2. When did the stiff-arm change.  You used to have to have your arm completely extended, elbow locked, now ball carriers will essentially open arm punch defenders in the face.  The arm isn't stiff anymore.  Just wondering why this started happening, because I do believe the rule states you can't deliver a blow to the face (not sure exact language.)

If the ball carrier hits the face mask he is fine. He is just not allowed to grab it. I believe if it’s contact to the face mask it is supposed to be open handed. As far as a rules change goes there has never been a rule about a “stiff arm”.  What you are describing is how the technique was typically taught. It is more commonly taught as more of a strike now to prevent defenders from grabbing the arm and dropping.

As far as a ball carrier striking opponents that has been around for decades. One can find plenty of film of players doing it. There was a point of emphasis 10 or so years back about contact to the helmet. For a year or so you would see ball carriers get flagged for lowering a shoulder and striking the helmet of the defender.

Ooouchhh. Not a recipe for success. I don't like hearing any NKY teams back tracking rather than moving forward. 35 points is pretty good though for alot of miscombobulation.

Who is calling the defense at SK? I have seen Dan Wooley roaming the sidelines but not sure if its as a coordinator or just position coach.

Jason Stallkamp is Sk's DC.

Weird position for him to be coaching, would love to see him go through some DB drills.

You ever seen some of the OL coaches in college and the NFL? They don’t look anything like OL.

Yeah but they more than likely played the position. Wooley never in his life played DB. He was an O/D lineman. A very good one, I will give him that. Not knocking the guy he has been apart of alot of high pedigree football, State Champion at Beechwood and National Champion at Georgetown College in NAIA. Did a good job while at Scott as the head ball coach got them out of a rough patch they were in for quite a while before his arrival. Just never pictured him as a DB coach. Glad he is still giving back to the kids.
