Jumper_Dad Posted August 21, 2024 Posted August 21, 2024 As the fall semester on Mark Pope's first season as the UK Men's Basketball Coach, I wonder. How long do we think Pope will be the Kentucky Coach? Remember Hall, Tubby and even Cal have talked about how 10 years seems to be where you should cut it off. For reference, going back to Rupp here is how many seasons each coach was on the UK sidelines. Rupp 42 (statutory forced retirement) Hall 13 (retired) Sutton 4 (fired NCAA violations) Pitino 8 (left for NBA) Smith 10 (left for another job Minnesota) Gillespie 2 (fired performance) Calipari 15 (left for another job Arkansas)
bugatti Posted August 21, 2024 Posted August 21, 2024 If you throw out the Rupp outlier, it averages out to 8.67 years. I don't have high expectations because Pope is an unproved commodity + the crumbling nature of college basketball. I will roll with 8 years but I don't feel great about it. 1
