McCracken County vs. Butler Predictions/Updates (KHSAA Girls' Sweet 16®)

The McCracken County Lady Mustangs (31-5) take on the Butler Bearettes (28-8) in the first game of the semifinals in the morning with the tip at 11:00am. This should be a good game they have played one common opponent in Owensboro, Butler defeated them by 14 and McCracken by 10. I think I will go with McCracken in this one. Butler will for sure have to shoot it better than they did today in the win over Franklin Co.

McCracken off to a good start leading Butler 12-0 just 3 minutes into the game.

It looks like McCracken and "Miss Basketball" candidate Claire Johnson came to play this morning. They led Butler 21-5 end of the first quarter.  After a below average game for Johnson yesterday vs. Bowling Green where she just scored 16 points in the win. She has 18 first quarter points on 7-10 from the floor and 3-3 from 3.

I posted on February 13th in the Sweet 16 draw thread that McCracken County would come out of the top, looking good early.  

By the way, vote for Claire Johnson for Miss Basketball.   😁

Butler trying to get back into this one outscoring McCracken 13-7 and have cut it to 28-18 just passed halfway through the 2nd quarter. Also for McCracken Johnson has picked up her 3rd foul.

McCracken leads 35-28 at the half. Butler outscored McCracken 23-14 in the 2nd quarter. Johnson after scoring 18 in the first was scoreless in the 2nd quarter, due to picking up her 3rd foul early in the quarter. I think if she stays out of foul trouble McCracken will pull away in the 2nd half.

Butler has now cut the McCracken Co. led down to 4 at 42-38 midway through the 3rd quarter.

We have a ballgame again. McCracken leads 51-47 end of the 3rd quarter. Big for McCracken is that Johnson answers back in the 3rd with 9 more points and has 27 for the game and did not pick up any fouls in the 3rd. Butler is being led by Rayiya White with 16 points.

McCracken starting to pull away midway through the 4th quarter they lead 64-54.  Johnson has scored 7 more to start the 4th and now has 34 of McCracken's 64.
