DevilMayCare Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 Final from Morehead. Shaelyn Steele comes alive in the second half to help push the Lady Devils (27-6) past the Kittens (26-7). Russell stifled Ashland in the 4Q, holding them to five points. Both teams are renowned in the 16th for their defense, and that was reflected tonight with Russell shooting 33% and Ashland 31%. Steele was 6/18 from the field and Woods was scoreless in the second half until the final minute. High Scorers Russell 🔱 - Steele 21 | Darnell 15 Ashland 🇱🇻 - Woods 14 1 2
16thBBall Fan Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 Big problem for Ashland in the loss was that Woods only scored 2 in the 2nd half and Sellars did not score in the game. 1

I didn't realize she was scoreless. Tough way for an accomplished senior - 1,630 career points - to go out. 1
DevilMayCare Posted March 9, 2024 Author Posted March 9, 2024 I'd be remiss if I didn't acknowledge Kennedy Darnell's play tonight. She was the offense early while Steele struggled to find her way. Darnell - a sophomore - will take the torch from Steele after this season and lead Russell's program the next couple of years. Tons of upside for that young lady, flashes of which were seen tonight. 1
Bailey Howell Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 Darnell carries Russell early with Steele struggling. Russell played perfect final 3:00of game , taking care of basketball. Ashland had a great season.
