Inaugural? There have been indoor track meets in the past. Is there something different now?

This is the first year the KHSAA has sanctioned Indoor Track and Field as a State championship sport.

You should look into it, your Tigers picked up KHSAA boys and girls State runners-up trophies today in the 1A meet. 🔴

Very nice.

So the indoor meets in the past were not KHSAA sanctioned. My son won the shot put championship at a statewide indoor meet in Louisville.

Congratulations to your son; that's a big deal.

In previous years the meets were sponsored by the coaches association (KTCCCA). This year's official status is something the T&F community has been pushing on for many years.

In the way back, the Mason-Dixon Games at Freedom Hall were the yearly de facto championships, though no team scores were kept.

I've been around Cov Cath's running programs for over fifty years and seen many firsts - Regional and State Cross Country and Track champions in the 60's, 70's 80's ... This is extremely gratifying. Well done Coach Mosher and the Long Blue Line.
