Per the Scoreboard. Pretty big upset, right? Russellville came in 5-25 while Franklin-Simpson was 14-12 and the top seed in the tournament.

Yes, a pretty sizable upset.  Franklin-Simpson had not lost a district semifinal since 2015, and this will be just the third region tournament they miss since 2001.  Russellville has been to only one region tournament since making the 2017 region finals, and frankly, they were terrible this year.  They lost by 24 to Franklin on the same floor last month.  So this is basically completely out of nowhere. 

 

Since the 13th District began seeding in 1998, this was just the third time a 4 seed beat a 1 seed. The first two were in 2014 & 2018, both Franklin-Simpson over Logan County.
