The Bobcats showed why they are still at top of the 14th region this past week, getting a big,  monumental overtime win over Hazard 73-70.

2) Hazard (15-2):

Hazard had a good run last week but it ended in a heart breaking 73-70 loss in overtime to Breathitt County in the championship game of the 14th region all a classic. The loss would end the Bulldogs 4 game losing streak.

3) Perry County Central (11-8):

After having a roughs start and a rough December, they have started off the new year on the right foot, winning 5 of they’re first 7 games of the new year.

4) Knott County Central (11-3):

Previous Rank: 3

The Pats won they’re only game of the week last week, defeating Powell County 68-52, with that win, they are on a 3 game win streak.

5) Letcher County Central (8-8):

Previous Rank: 5

LCC have dropped 4 of their last 6 games. Injuries have bit the Cougars this season with several starters and key players out. I think two maybe done for the season.

6) Estill County (10-5):

Previous Rank: 8

Engineers picked up two big wins last week, defeating Buckhorn 78-61 and a big road win over district foe and raining district champs from last season, Powell County 75-67. Estill at one time had a 17 point lead on the Pirates and looked like the best team in the 56th district.

Wolfe County dropped they’re only game of the week, falling 83-64 to Breathitt County.

The Pirates dropped two games last week, falling to Knott County Central 68-52 and Estill County 75-67. Pirates have now lost 4 straight.

Owsley is on a roll right now, winning 3 straight, all in the 14th region all a but they’re toughest test of the season is today against the Breathitt County Bobcats.
