August 16, 20233 yr Hot weather is in the forecast for next week. Temperatures in the 90s are expected each day Sunday through Wednesday and may continue through the end of the week. Afternoon heat index readings will be well into the 90s and may sometimes approach triple digits. Vulnerable populations, such as people without easy access to air conditioning, should now prepare for the heat and have a plan.

August 19, 20233 yr Author I just received the following from the NWS-Louisville office. Quote Good morning - A prolonged late summer heat wave will begin Sunday. Confidence remains very high that we'll have highs in the lower 90s Sunday, and the mid to upper 90s each day this coming week. The heat index will likely exceed 100 degrees on multiple days. We could see Heat Advisory headlines, or if confidence increases, several consecutive days of the heat index reaching 105 could trigger an Excessive Heat Warning. While this will not be the most intense heat wave, it will be an extended period of hot temperatures. Have a plan to take heat related precautions, and check on your neighbors, especially if they are at greater risk for heat illnesses. Best regards, --NWS Louisville
