Scott County Deputy Sheriff Shot

Recommended Posts

A Scott County Deputy was shot during a traffic stop on I-75. According to WLEX there was another shooting at a Bar in Georgetown that is thought to be related.

Huge police presence at UK Hospital ER as that is where the Deputy was taken. As well as on I-75 in Scott County where the shooting took place.

Prayers for this Deputy's family and fellow Officers.

Police say Scott County Deputy Caleb Conley was the officer who died. He leaves behind a wife and small children.

Deputy Conley served in the US Army for eight years and has been with Scott County for four years.

It's been released now, that the Deputy is deceased. Some reports that a suspect has been arrested after other incidents around the area.

It was a very chaotic scene after the Deputy was shot initially.  I'm not sure if he was taken into custody by KSP's SRT team, who was on their way to the area or other local law enforcement agencies.  Really surprised this guy was taken into custody alive.

If he had fired on them, in all likelihood he wouldn't have been. I'm guessing after his brief standoff he gave up peacefully.

Suspect also shot someone on Georgetown Road in Lexington and stole their car. Police used license plate scanners and traffic cameras to track the suspect down.

That's the FLOCK camera system that Lexington recently acquired.   Some folks have knocked it as intrusive thinking the police department will use it to ticket people.  That's not the case at all, as the license plate readers aren't equipped for that.  This incident is exactly what they're meant to be used for and shows how quickly they can work in real time.  They've also used this camera system in several other shooting investigations.

Saw comments on-line by a few different Law Enforcement Officers that the shooter is a career criminal that was Wanted. I'm guessing the Deputy didn't know that information as he approached the car.
