Warren Central had not exactly played their best against Bowling Green the first two times out.  They didn't play badly by any stretch of imagination, but it would be an understatement to say that offensively, they could have played better the first two times.  BG shot a better percentage in each of those games, with Central's best effort being the 40.3% they shot in the second game, an overtime victory.  Last night, on the other hand, the Dragons were outstanding.  Central shot 55.4% from the field, including going 8/18 from three.  Kade Unseld had not been at his best the first two games, and still had room to grow in this effort, but his midrange game was working as well as posting, and he led all scorers with 18.  The Dragons excelled in the midrange, shooting 6/10 from the deep two.  Adding that to the threes, it really pulls teams out of being able to pack the paint, a critical key against Bowling Green where Ritter can alter shots.  Ritter got a pair of blocks last night, including one on an attempted dunk by Jefferson.

The Dragons never trailed, scoring the first four points and jumping out to a 9-2 lead early.  They scored 25 in both the first and third quarters, winning those quarters by a margin of 23 points.  A strong way to begin both halves.  Once the Dragons started with that opening kick, the margin never went below five points.  After a late first quarter 8-0 run pushed the lead up to 14 (at 25-11), the lead never went below 8 again.  It wasn't that Bowling Green didn't play well.  They shot 46.5% from the field, including 15/24 from inside the arc.  Ritter continued the strong play he has demonstrated all district tournament, combining for 41 points in the two games.  The Purples got to the foul line more in this one, going a respectable 11/16 from the stripe.  They even won the battle of rebounds, which I honestly didn't think was possible.  But they committed 17 turnovers and were just 5/19 from three.  They usually shoot a better percentage than that (that many attempts would translate to roughly 7 threes made generally for them), but they also rarely shoot nearly that many - averaging 11 attempts a game.  One of the big reasons for their success in the game at Warren Central was that they started 9/13 from three, shooting way over their season average for percentage and above it for makes, but that really isn't something you can rely on since that's not generally Bowling Green's game.  It'll be interesting if they place a greater emphasis on getting inside in the presumed next matchup between the two, or if they'll take the big swing like they did at Warren Central, try and knock down the threes to turn the tide.  One adjustment that I would expect them to make is to have Wardlow get up more shots.  He is judicious in his attempts, but he has absolutely crushed it in the midrange and in the last two games, going 11/13 from two.  He was very quiet for long stretches of the game last night - they'll need more.  Gavin Lightning was also a spark plug the last time they played, but last night was 0/1 from the field - a three point attempt.

I'll be very surprised if round 4 between these two doesn't come a week from Tuesday.
