Wow, what a 7 day stretch Moore has had. His team competed in the All 'A' State Tournament, and he led them to the semi-finals, scoring around 75% of the teams scoring throughout the tournament. In the final game at EKU, he broke the school scoring record (passing Carson Williams, former Kentucky Mr. Basketball). In the same game, he broke the 1,000 rebound mark. 

In the very next game tonight against Carroll County Moore scored his 3,000th point, something only 2 players in the history of 8th region basketball have done. 

Now the hunt starts to break the all-time 8th region scoring record, a thing that has not been touched in 50 years. First, he has to pass Keith Blackburn (Eminence) who had 3,016 career points who is 2nd all time in region history. 

The 50 year record is held by Fred Hale of Williamstown who had 3,233 career points and graduated in 1973. 

I do not have his stats from the game tonight, but before tonight he was at 2,990. That puts him 243 points behind Hale for the record. The Rebels have 7 more regular season games. If he were to score his average of 31 ppg in those 7 games he would be at 3,208 points. With this, he would only need 15 points in the post-season to break the record, which is almost impossible for Moore not to accomplish. 

Unless he misses some games, I do not see a way this long held record will be broken by the end of the season. 

A few 40-45 point games against the very weak 31st opponents and it could happen…and yes he can do that because they are very bad and he is good.

Little update on Moore chasing history: 
Now that the regular season is complete and all stats are posted, Moore is currently at 3,201 career points. This means that he is just 32 points away from breaking the 8th Region all time scoring record!

Owen County should most definitely win their first game of the 31st District Tournament, so if he can not reach it in the semifinals against the winner of Carroll County/Trimble County Wednesday night, he would do it in the district championship Friday night.
