Purple88
Deuce breaks loose: Bailey leads Purples past Wildcats 68-63 | Prep Sports | bgdailynews.com The above link is a great article about this game. Bowling Green was fortunate that Deuce Bailey was on his A game with 30 points on the night. But give Franklin Simpson credit, they played hard the whole way and Jalen Briscoe had 28 points for the Wildcats. A LOT of fouls in this one and BG "may" have been thinking about their next game a bit early. This sets up a HUGE game on Friday as Top Region and District Team and arch-rival Warren Central travels across town to take on BG for the first time (but not the last) on Friday night! Should be a great game!
DragonFire
This game had potential trap written all over it. Franklin-Simpson is a team that Bowling Green has dominated for quite some time, but they are a capable team with talent. This game was sandwiched in between two critical district games, the latter of which is THE game for Bowling Green, when they host Warren Central. It’s not too surprising that they had a bit of a lapse in letting this be a competitive game. Deuce is a real X factor for Bowling Green. If he’s hitting, they can really punch high above their weight class. I remember him burning up Warren Central early in the district final last year, helping fuel a sizable lead. He’s a streaky shooter, but when he’s on, they’re tough to handle, because Wardlow and Ritter are consistent. Sounds like they had some foul trouble in this one, which is actually uncharacteristic despite the aggressive defense Bowling Green plays. I chalk this up to perfect storm.
