Sad to report... Big Mike Elkin passed away this morning. Was a friend of my Dad's when they were both coaching HS football in the early 70's.

Mike had a successful coaching career at Madison Central, Berea, and Madison Southern.

One day, he came to Maysville and he talked football with my staff. We had a blast. Big man, big heart, big personality.  He will be missed.

Been a tough day.

Four years at Madison Southern (1993-96) and posted a winning record each season. Culminated with a trip to the regional final in 1996 where they lost to Boyle County on a two-point conversion at the end of the game. RIP.
