It could also affect your RPI as well. You may have to travel instead of hosting with one extra loss on your resume.

Good point, the counter would be that it gives teams another chance to earn their home field by having top teams playing other top teams. Hopefully this off-season, there is a provision for head to head matchups prevailing over RPI which would make these games potentially more meaningful. I think it's a good thing if we have more meaningful regular season games.
