Lyon County looks to be well in the driver seat in region 2. After a sweet sixteen visit last year the Lions and Travis Perry are loaded up again. Hopkinsville will give them a run possibly, but will need to get consistence out of there scorers. For the rest of the teams it is a toss up until the bottom 5, depends on who can surprise going late in the season. 

#1 Lyon County

With a 29-7 record 23-0 in the region last year and region 2 champs, Travis Perry(29.7 ppg) who has been offered by Kentucky and possibly brings on board Bradin Nelson from Webster Co. A 6'2 point that averaged 14.4 ppg and 6.6 reb and a all second region award, hoping to fill the void of Jackson Shoulders a 2000 point 1000 rebound for his career. Younger brother Brady Shoulders(7.9 reb) also hopes to fill the void also. Look for Jack Reddick(10.5 ppg) to contribute more offensively. Hands down favorite in the second.

#2 Hopkinsville

23-7 and 16-3 in the region will try and get by without Kensington Cabiness leading scorer and rebounder last year for the tigers. They return Detravious Leavell (11.4 ppg) and Daisjun Mercer(12.2 ppg). With the athletes Hopkinsville produces, you never know if they can reach 2nd region finals like they did in 2021-22 season. We will just have to wait and see.

#3 Henderson County

18-13 8-4 in region Tyler Smithart was bounced first game of the region last year with a very young squad and return Gerard Thomas a all region player that average almost 18 a game and 7 rebounds. Throw into the mix 3 point specialist Cooper Davenport(10.1 ppg) to go with several other talented freshman and they could make a run.

#4 Madisonville

After losing there top 3 scorers and rebounders, Jon Newton will look to improve on his 23-9 15-4 record in the second region and rely heavily on Hopkins Central transfer and one of the top guards in the region Marcus Eaves(26.0 ppg 7 reb)but will need to find a lot more scoring if they want to be taken serious as region contenders. 

#5 Hopkins Central

The Storm 15-13 9-10 in region look to repeat a surprise semi final appearance in the second region tourney, the now over looked Storm will bring back Drake Skeen(13.7 ppg) the top 3 point shooter in the state. They also return Namari Hall who is a big man that had 19 boards in the semi versus Hopkinsville and is talented also on offense. Trevahn Jones will look to to off set the departure of Marcus Eaves and Trevor Weldon will run the point more than likely. With the experience in the tournament and a more team oriented style of play they could be a big surprise.

#6(tie) UHA

After a upsetting 9-15 record and only 4 wins in region the young trio of Gavin Grubbs(14.5 ppg), Lemar Northington(9.1 ppg), and Quintin Quarles(7.2 ppg) look to impress and bring UHA back to the top of the region.

#6 (tie) Union County

The Braves were 19-10 and 13-7 in region last year. Izaih Manual a all region player and almost 20 points a game scorer will have to find help after losing 80% of there rebounding and 7 experienced seniors to graduation. Rumor of a possible out of state transfer will help, but they will need a supporting cast to be successful again this year.

#7 Christian County

10-23 4-9 in region played tough versus Hopkinsville in the district final but under performed all last year. Coach Miles will rely on his son Jordan Miles (12.5 ppg) and Darrell Bateman (12.6 ppg 8.9 reb)for offense. Beyond that it is a toss up on who can help. Hopefully they improve being so young but that is yet to be seen.

#8 Caldwell County

Losing all state player Jabrion Spikes to graduation would seem to hurt Caldwell a 18-11 team with 12 region wins, but Coach Kukahiko always seems to be around the top year in year out. The Whitington brothers will look to have big years and Xavier Bumpus will do his best to fill Spikes roll. Look for them to be competitive once again. 

#9 

Crittenden County

The Rockets were competitive last year at 14-17 and return leading scorer Travis Champion(19.4 ppg 5.7 reb) and also Preston Morgeson there second leading scorer at 11.7 ppg and lead in rebounds with a 7.6 average. With new coach D.J. Pigg look for them to reach the second region tournament again.

#10

Trigg County

With the retirement of Coach Burgett the Wildcats who was 500. last year and 5 region wins his son Mason Burgett takes the helm. Returning players and leading scorers and rebounders, the Vaughn brothers should help ease the load some for the youngest coach in the state, but the supporting cast is pretty much gone so scoring will be difficult and a first year coach learning curve may hinder them.

Webster County

With a hard season to take last year at 13-17 and transfer of  Bradin Nelson a all region player. Deshawn Murphy(14.7 ppg) will have a difficult season trying to copy the 13 wins a year ago.

Dawson Springs

Only had 3 wins last year and lost both leading scorers and rebounders. The young talented coaches son Rex Blue (8.7 ppg 7.6 reb) will have a hard nosed cast to go with him, but experience and size will make for another difficult year.

Livingston Central

Had 4 wins a year ago and lost leading scorer Max Downings 26 ppg. Bring back mostly freshman and sophomores and will have a hard time duplicating last years win total.

Ft. Campbell 

2 wins last year, they lost there coach and like most season will have a whole new team being a military base school.

Some roster changes will mix this up. Region 2 is always interesting because in most years there is a log jam of teams that can succeed.
