Most wins in a season?

Featured Replies

I am trying to confirm the most wins by a team in a single season.  I think it is Carlisle County's 40 wins in the 1982-83 season, but I want to be sure.  Am I missing someone?  Any team have more than 40 wins in a season?

Don’t think you can have that many anymore.

Can only play 30 in regular season and post season most would normally be 9. 2 district, 3 region, 4 state.

Not sure of the rules back in the day?

I am not sure of the rules back then either, although it looks like tournaments played a big role in getting to that number of games - they played 3 games in a Thanksgiving tournament, 4 games in the King of the Bluegrass, 2 in a Christmas tournament, and 4 in the LIT.

I have done my homework and I was wrong about Carlisle County's 40 wins in the 1982-83 season being the most in KHSAA history.  Turns out that Inez won 40 games twice (38-39 (lost in first round of state tournament) and 40-41(won state championship)).  BUT the Nebo Aces won 41 games in 1935-36, when they were runners-up in the state tournament.  BUT 40 or 41 wins in a season is nothing compared to the 49 wins the Olive Hill Comets claimed in the 1946-47 season.  Playing a total of 53 games and finishing with a 49-4 record, Olive Hill lost in the 16th region final to Clark County.
