The Highlands High School Athletic Department announced today that Brandon Ponchak will take over as the new boys varsity soccer coach.

 "I’m excited to welcome Brandon to the Highlands family. He has extensive soccer knowledge and his personality and coaching style will fit right in with our student-athletes. Brandon’s vision and expectations are in line with my own and I can’t wait to see him put his own style on the program.” Wes Caldwell stated, as he is elated to have Brandon join the Highlands community.

 "I want to thank AD Wes Caldwell, athletic administrative assistant Lance Bucher and Principal John Darnell for the opportunity to be the next head coach of the Highlands boys soccer program.  I’m honored to take over for Coach Niedert, who set the program up for a successful future. My family and I are excited to get involved in the Highlands and Fort Thomas communities. I look forward to working with so many great student-athletes and helping them reach their full potential for a successful career on and off the field,” stated Coach Ponchak.

Brandon is an Ohio native with a strong soccer background. He played four years of collegiate soccer, and has served as a college assistant coach for four years with both men’s and women’s programs. He was the head coach of the Sterling College men’s soccer team for four years and was the assistant coach at Northern Kentucky University. He recently led two top pre-professional men’s amateur teams in the Cincinnati Dutch Lions FC and Kings Hammer FC for the last six years.

Brandon is a super nice guy with great communication skills.  He is definitely a great teacher of the game.

Good question, is he a teacher in his day job?  If so, it seems like there will be plenty of openings.....
