Shelby Valley is getting an upgrade to its playing surface. The old turf was looking a little weathered.

Shelby Valley is an odd duck and will be very hard to predict.

On one hand, they have one of the top passers in all of EKY and Class 2A returning with most of their top weapons around him.

On the other hand, their numbers are down and it is hard to predict a team who lost twice to Martin County and who gave up almost 45 points per game in their six losses to really take a major step forward.

Shelby Valley could reach the Semi-Finals or they could exit in Round 1 again.

The Wildcats should be able to score plenty of points against most 2A competition, but I am struggling to see them have enough defense come November.

Russ Osborne alone is a big reason why I see this team knocking off West Carter atop of that district. Offensively I wouldn’t worry but the defense is what gets me. If the Wildcats can find a way to tighten that defense up, this team has a shot to make a good run this year at the state title.
