Notes:

-I went pretty in-depth on the week's big game here:

-As we go into February, we see a reset back to the preseason top team at the top of the poll.  Greenwood's work can no longer be denied, and their wins over Bowling Green and Warren Central, while at home, are so much more impressive when you know that Cade Stinnett missed almost the entire game against the former and the entire game against the latter.  Greenwood is reminding everyone that they are more than just Cade, they are a deep team, senior-laden, and they play fundamental ball.  Aaron Brown got 18 and 19 points in those two games, and Brakton Stinnett had 13 and 11 respectively.  They got big games from their best available players when they needed them, and two HUGE wins to put them in a dominant position for the district.  All they have to do is win at Warren Central when they make up their game - expected sometime between the 8th and 14th - and the district #1 is theirs.  I have been steadfast in my belief that whoever ends up with the #1 from the 14th will be in the region final. It's a big deal.

-I had already planned to keep Bowling Green at #2 and move Warren Central to #3 after the Greenwood/Warren Central result - after all Warren Central lost to each over the course of the last two weeks - but Bowling Green made that even easier by blowing the doors off of McCracken County.  McCracken suffered their first loss to a Kentucky team this year, and did so by a 73-36 score.  It was one of the more stunning margins in recent memory, and McCracken County entered in the BGP top ten.  Bowling Green has won 17 in a row at home and 92 of 102 there.  They're obviously very good there, but come on - 37 points?!?!?

-Franklin-Simpson has put themselves in great position to grab the top seed in the 13th District, knocking off Todd County Central on the road by a 39-38 score.  That was three days after defeating Russellville in overtime, also on the road.  All the Wildcats have to do now is defend their homecourt.  It was their ninth straight win over the Rebels, and the lowest winning score in the series in the Riherds scoreboard era.  The Wildcats got it done economically this week, winning on back to back nights scoring 39 then 44 points.  Franklin-Simpson has held five opponents to less than 40 points this season.

-Todd County Central saw their All "A" run come to an end in the quarterfinals.  They were 7/16 from three in their opening game against West Carter, with Jacob Brandon hitting all three of his attempts to provide a vital contribution in the win.  It was the first win ever for the Rebels in the tournament, going out in the first round of three previous attempts.  The road ended in a beatdown at the hands of Evangel Christian, but it was still an outstanding success for the Rebels to get the region title and make their mark at the state tourney.

-I don't know the reason behind it, but Jaquis Todd and Anthony Woodard are no longer on Russellville's roster.  They were a very intriguing team to me preseason with the two fifth year options on the team, but I suspected this might be the case when I stopped seeing their names show up in box scores for a bit.  It's hard for me to see them making much noise at all now - they'll likely exit in the district semifinals now.

-It's starting to look like a winless year for Logan County is a distinct possibility.  The Cougars are 0-18 currently, and six of the eight teams they have left to play have already beaten them.  The closest result against those teams was a nine point loss to Todd County Central.  One of the other teams that they haven't played? Greenwood, so that's a loss.  That leaves their road trip Hart County as likely their only shot.  The Raiders are 5-14.  The comparative scores don't seem favorable to the Cougars. 

Top three can probably be drawn out of a hat in terms of who is better. That #1 seed is huge; someone in the 2/3 game is missing out completely. Greenwood/Warren Central makeup game will be the game of the night in the state whenever it is played.
