Final...

I was not sure why no one had posted one of the bigger games of the year so far..

I have not seen SV play this year. Are they as good as their record or have they just played a weak schedule? Just curious.....

They have a very good young team, but they have played an extremely easy schedule. However, in a couple of years, they could be one of the better teams across the state.

I saw that the Courier Journal has SV ranked 4th in the state. Are they that good? DO they have any size inside?

Those are the LIT Ratings, that does not mean they are ranked #4 in the state. These ratings are based on W-L record, point spread, teams that they have played and a few other criteria in the mix.

There is no way they are the fourth best team in the state! There are probably at least 30 teams in Lexington, Louisville, Northern KY and other parts of the state that would beat them on a consistent basis.

I'm not knocking the team and they are probably the strongest team in the 15th region but when you compare them to the best teams in the state they fall way short. Now, in a couple of years they have the potential to be one of the top teams in the state. Just not yet.

Keep it up SV, hope to see you representing the 15th at Rupp!

I seen them play Cumberland in a scrimmage and Cumberland had the advantage inside with Desmond Johnson, but Johnson is one of the top 10 players in the 13th so I'm not sure. They wasn't very big.

Cumberland plays much better at home than they do on the road. I do not think they can play with Bell. It would not surprise me to see the Skins not make the 13th region tournament this season.

Shelby Valley came back from a 12 point halftime deficit to beat Bell in OT. It seemed to me that Bell Co. got tired down the stretch and Shelby Valley did not. Shelby Valley has a lot of depth and used it in this game, Bell only played around 7 players even though they have about three other quality players(Warren, Nelson, Mickey) on the bench who either did not play or played very little.

I was pulling for Bell to pull it out, but Shelby Valley made the plays down the stretch, especially their freshman PG, who I thought should have been the MVP(not sure who won it). Hope Ryan Whitaker's injury will not cause him to miss any games coming up.

I sure hope Coach Booher and the Shelby Valley teams returns next December to defend their Championship in th CFIT. I would think most of the young Redhounds will want to test their skills against the Valley next season as well. Talk about a huge crowd and a nice matchup. If the Hounds and Cats get together next year it would be a huge draw. With all the young talent both teams have I hope the Coaches can find a way for these two teams to play somewhere, somehow next year. I know Corbin will not play in the WYMT, so hopefully the Wildcats will return to defend the crown.

Hopefully someone has already started talking to Coach Booher about coming back next year. Two young, talented and well-coached teams could make for a good rivalry over the next few years.

I agree. I think this game in the Falls or in a regular season matchup would be super for both teams. If I were a director of one of these tournaments I would be after these two teams for next year indeed.

Great tournament REdhounds Varsity CLub,

Cumberland hosts the district tournament this year and 2 teams make the region. You may be surprised come Tuesday.Cumberland will be ready to play and I know Bell can be very hard to beat on the at home, but it would not surprise me to see Cumberland steal one from them.

What happened?

What happened?

Whitaker took a bad spill in the 2nd quarter of the championship game and hurt his lower back. He played the 2nd half, but was in some obvious pain.
