McCreary Central 46 Pulaski County 44

Featured Replies

McCreary Central held on to win the Arby's KFC Holiday Classic tonight against Pulaski County and John Perkins.

Game Summary:

McCreary started out the game on an 8-0 run, before Pulaski made it 13-11. Dixon started out 0-6, but had four points due to fouls. John Perkins went 0-8 from the three-point range, and I'm not sure if Pulaski made one. Senior foward Corey Waters was on J. Perkins the whole game, and was limited to under 10 points (unofficially.) Ty Perkins started the game as well and he matched up with Aaron Watts. Watts nailed 2 consecutive three point shots right in the face of Perkins and the Raider Nation erupted.

McCreary led 21-18 at the half, and held a tight lead most of the second half.

J. Perkins was called for two offensive fouls in the first half, but he did not sit. Many Pulaski fans, as well as McCreary on other calls, got pretty mad. McCreary was actually called for more fouls in the first half, and only three less in the second half.

Exactly like the game the night before, McCreary led by one point with under 60 seconds to go and Josh Phillips was at the line. The night before, he missed two in a double bonus situation, but tonight was only in single bonus and missed the first shot of a 1-1. Pulaski failed to score and McCreary against had the ball. Devin Gibson was fouled on a shot, which was missed, and he was sent to the line for 2. He made the first, giving McCreary a 46-44 lead and obviously, he missed the second. John Perkins grabbed the rebound with 5.8 seconds remaining, but was fouled at mid-court by Phillips because they had a foul to give. (Smart Move). I stood there thinking of Perkins halfcourt shot to beat Casey earlier in the year, and waited for the ball to be checked back in. The ball was checked into Perkins, who instead of shot a three, drove to the basket and put up and easy layup, uncontested. It rolled around and rimmed out and the crowd erupted as time expired.

I thought that Ty Perkins had moved?

Apparently he moved to Indiana, for "undisclosed" reasons. The rumor that I heard wasn't something to be proud of, so I won't speak of it. He is back and is playing pretty well. I would assume he was cleared by the KHSAA... if not, poor Pulaski County.

The Watts kid had a good game. He is just a freshman right? I do not remember him playing at the middle school. Did he move in from somewhere else?

Yes, he is just a freshman. He played varsity ball last year as an 8th grader and didn't play middle school. He did, however, play whenever Pine Knot Middle was still around, but when they conjoined the middle schools, he went to varsity.

As Gomer would say "Once shame on you, twice shame on me".
