Owensboro continues to roll along at the top spot. They had to put together a big 4th quarter to fend off Mclean County and Castle, but were able to get it done. Their defensive intensity can lead to quick offense and has served them well through the first month of the season. Ohio County really came on strong over the holiday tournament season, winning 5 straight games. Coach Decker is starting to get his lineup to gel and the Eagles are becoming one of the best teams in the region. Muhlenberg County continued their up and down season thru the holiday tournament schedule. They are a team to keep an eye on this week with games against top 3rd Region and 10th district competition in the next 2 weeks. Finally, it was good news, bad news week for a pair of 9th district teams. For Owensboro Catholic, they got good news with Brian Griffith returning to the court. For Apollo, it was bad news, as they learned that their 2 big transfers were ruled ineligible and as of now, will be unable to play varsity basketball this season.
