Owen County vs. Trimble County Predictions/Updates

Featured Replies

8th Region All-A Tournament Round 1

at Eminence HS

Game time:   5 pm ET

Broadcast:  Starts at 4:45 pm ET on www.pegasussportsky.com    Free, live, high definition video

Owen comes into the game 7-6; Trimble is 4-10.

Both teams' fans probably expected more wins at this point of the season; Owen is still the favorite to win the 31st district title, but many thought Trimble - with a solid starting five - would contend, but now aren't so sure as the Raiders have struggled to stop teams early, with all ten of their losses coming by double digits.

Owen is led by 8th Region Player of the Year candidate Teagan Moore, a 6'6" junior guard averaging 28.2 ppg.   Moore is a defensive matchup nightmare, and he excels at penetrating into the paint and getting fouled.    A spectacular free throw shooter, Moore has hit 43 of 49 free throws in the last four Rebel games - in fact, he took all of the free throws attempted by Owen County in two of those contests, and shot all but one of the Rebels' free throw attempts in another.   On the year, he's hitting well over 80% at the line

Trimble is balanced offensively, with three players averaging in double figures (J.T. Wilcoxson 15.9 ppg, Tate Ogburn 12 ppg / 11.4 rebounds, Ethan Horn 11.6 ppg) and two that are close (Hunter Kelly 9.3 ppg and Dalton Penick 8.4 ppg).   But nobody else on the team is averaging more than 1.1 ppg.

I'll try to post some updates from the new Eminence arena as the game goes on.

Give me Owen County in this one.
