Birds flexed their muscle down low to hold off the Bulldogs

After a slow start by the Birds coming out of the gate down 7-2, they eventually were able to get things going with Harris scoring 8 1st quarter points and going on a 17-5 run to finish the quarter up 19-12.

The second quarter woes happened again (like against Camp Co) allowing Holmes to gain some confidence going into the half.  Holmes outscored Highlands 18-14 to cut the lead to 33-30 at halftime.

Deja Vu all over again for the 3rd quarter….no idea what Coach Listerman tells these boys but it be nice if he said it after the 1st quarter.  Highlands dominated the 3rd quarter by a score of 22-15 to extend the lead to 55-45.

4th quarter the Highlands seemed to slow things down and put it on cruise control.  The highlight of this quarter was some nice hops by Barth slamming a dunk to get the crowd rockin to end the game.  Final score was 71-59.

Game notes:

Unofficial Birds scoring stats:

Herald 15, Barth 14, Kocher 14 and Harris 12

Birds had 4 3pt goals:  Barth 2, Herald 1, and Reed 1

Final thoughts:

Birds HAVE TO clean up the turnover game!  Way to many turnovers happening still, which was a key to the game by Coach Listerman.  Was really nice to see some really good looks to go down low and have Kocher, Harris and a little bit of Benke to go up strong and finish.

APB on Cam Giesler:  I do not have any inside scoop, don’t know if any of the readers do but Cam i don’t believe was in attendance and did not play.  Is he sick? Is there another story?  Would love to know……

@859Radio was awesome!  Great opportunity to allow the B-man and Vinny work with you to allow them that experience was great!
