Powell 71 Cumberland 57

Good win for the Pirates...like to see Powell get on track and win LCC's tourney. Powell vs. Cordia tomorrow night, 6 p.m.

He played pretty well. Powell seemed to handle the big man for Cumberland (#42) pretty well. Romans played well for Powell. Tough down low, tough to guard one-on-one. When Romans is on and Powells bench is productive, Powell is a very hard team to beat. I have to say, Powell might have what they need to win the 14th this year.

I think all teams have a chance at winning the 14th but you have to admit, JBS & Hazard are the top 2 right now with the rest a little ways back.

To me, JBS is overrated. Sorry. I'm going to call the Mason co. game a big fluke. Sorry. Don't get me wrong, JBS has a great team, but I still can't see them taking the 14th. Stepp, Cox and Collins are all tough, but like i've said before...if you control Stepp at all, descently, or so much to say, slightly. Hold him to 15 points and Jbs can be beat. Hazard on the other hand has a tough all around team, lead by Justin Hicks at the point. A team from the mtns. such as Hazard will always get good pull, from not only fans, but yes, referees. I see solid, all-around good ball clubs in Powell, Lee, and Perry. Leading me to my to my final point. If you look back through the years, 9 times out of 10 the "favorite" has'nt ended up the victor.

I agree here. Look at Leslie County last season. Picked to win the region by just about everybody but loses to Jackson City in the Regional Semi Finals.

I still stand by my statement that JBS & Hazard are at the top of the region. But in basketball & especially the 14th region, there is a lot of parity. The 14th region is always fun to watch because most of the teams can beat each other at any given point in the season. It makes it very exciting & sometimes very heartbreaking but it is fun to watch. (Unless you are on the losing end of an "upset")

Powell would most certainly be considered one of the best dark horses in the 14th.

This score shows me Powell can contend in the 14th.

Powell has turned things around since Romans has been back.

Powell played well and Cumberland came out flat after practicing twice and having no games since the last game against Powell.Cumberland should get back on track and Powell has a good team.

I agree.
