Undefeated Teams Within Their Region on September 23rd

Featured Replies

As you start to think about the upcoming Region Tournaments in October, and who may be in a position to advance to the State Tournament, here is a complete list of teams without a loss within their region to date (9/23/21):

1st Region:  Marshall County  10-0-0

2nd Region:  Madisonville North Hopkins  6-0-0

3rd Region:  Grayson County  1-0-0 // Daviess County 6-0-0

4th Region:  NONE

5th Region:  NONE

6th Region:  Butler 3-0-1 // Moore 6-0-0 // Fern Creek 6-0-0

7th Region:  Trinity 4-0-1 // Ky Country Day 7-0-0 // Manual 7-0-1

8th Region:  North Oldham 1-0-0 // Woodford County 4-0-0

9th Region:  Ryle 6-0-0 // Highlands 8-0-0

10th Region:  Montgomery County 4-0-0

11th Region:  Madison Central 7-0-0 // Dunbar 8-0-0

12th Region:  Boyle County 5-0-0 // West Jessamine 6-0-0

13th Region:  Corbin 2-0-0

14th Region:  Perry County Central 5-0-0 // Estill County 5-0-0

15th Region:  Prestonsburg  9-0-0

16th Region:  NONE

A little disappointed that in the 9th Region Ryle is going to avoid playing Highlands and Dixie in the regular season.  Any given night I think that region is still a toss up between Ryle, Highlands, Conner, Dixie and Cov Cath.  It will make the Region tournament one of the best ever.

I definitely wouldn't say toss-up.  I'd build the 9th Hierarchy this way as of today:

Ryle / Highlands

CovCath / Cooper

Conner / Dixie

I have seen all 6 of those teams at least 3x each, I feel pretty solid about those tiers.  I think Ryle is absolutely the favorite and I will be shocked if they don't come out of the 9th, but I certainly give Highlands a chance.  Anyone but those two coming out of the 9th, ultimately, will leave me blown away.

Congrats to Marshall County (1st), Madisonville North-Hopkins (2nd), Daviess County (3rd), Butler (6th), Moore (6th), KCD (7th), Manual (7th), Trinity (7th), North Oldham (8th), Woodford County (8th), Highlands (9th), Montgomery County (10th), Dunbar (11th), Madison Central (11th), Boyle County (12th), Corbin (13th), Estill County (14th), Perry County Central (14th), and Prestonsburg (15th) for all ending the regular season undefeated within their region.  That is a big accomplishment.

I guess I missed the memo about Ryle playing a player that wasnt eligible. Which ruined there undefeated region record.

Whats the scoop in that? Does that put a little wrinkle in your thought of Ryle being the 9th region favorite or you thinking Highlands just took another step closer making this a toss up?

I'm blind to what importance that ineligible player was or is he eligible now??

Fill me in......

The short version, at least as I've heard it, is Ryle had two players transfer from Boone Co with the same first name, one plays soccer, one plays football, and when the football version was cleared, the AD told Coach Collins that the soccer version was cleared.  They played him, he scored, the Boone Co coaches saw on social that he had scored, but knew he hadn't been cleared, so they gave Coach Collins a heads-up, and upon digging in with the Ryle AD, they figured out where it went sideways.

He is cleared now, he isn't a starter for them, but a solid player for depth up top, and I think it only strengthens their stranglehold on the 9th.

Got it! Thanks for the synopsis.
