CLOSING REMARKS:

Dunbar snuck out a victory over Simon Kenton 1-0.  A first half goal is all that was needed to put away the Pioneers.

Championship Game (aka World War 2)

Well as Yogi Berra coined “It was Deja Vu all over again”.

Highlands tried to go toe to toe with the Pandas and unfortunately NDA struck first with a very high line drive direct kick probably 35-40 yards out that I think caught GK Parks off guard and sailed over her fingertips into the back of the net.  The first half seemed to be predominantly Pandas attacking offensively and Highlands dodging bullet after bullet.  Halftime score was just that 1-0.

The second half I think Highlands believed they could potentially sneak something in, it felt like offensively Highlands was attacking at much more of a greater rate then the 1st half or even better than the 1st game.  At the end it was to no avail.  In the meantime, NDA was able to get a couple nice runs to add to their lead and punch 2 more in in the 2nd half.  Final 3-0.

Takeaways:  Out of the 4 halves played so far against the Pandas, offensively looked the best in the last.  Still looking for that first goal though which is critical.  Also, Gessner was absent for Saturday’s game so out of the 6 goals against Highlands at the hands of NDA, 5 have been with Parks in Goal for 3 of those halves and 1 against Gessner.  What will it be like with 80 min of Gessner in goal???  I only hope we will find out!
