SSF's 12th Region Round-up Poll

Featured Replies

This has been an interesting week for the 12th region teams in tournaments. A lot has changed in the poll, so lets get to it.

(Overall, Region record)

1. Lincoln County (5-2, 3-0)

Losses to Mason and PRP, far superior teams, are the only blimish on this team. They've only scored 5 more points than their opponents and counting the losses, they win by an average of 0.7 points.

2. Mercer County (4-1, 1-4)

The Titans have played five games, all at home. Their only loss came against Wayne County, a region contender, and they easily took care of Pulaski. They're on a two-game winning streak, which so far in the 12th this year is hard to get.

3. Southwestern (4-3, 3-2)

The Warriors had their 2-game winning streak snapped at E. Jessamine the other day, but with a win over district rival Wayne County, they've climbed out poll.

4. East Jessamine (3-5, 2-2)

The Jags are on a 2-game winning streak, both against region opponents, but they've had a slow start to the season. They broke their 5-game losing streak at Casey and Coach O'Bryan plans to get them back on track.

5. McCreary Central (4-4, 2-2)

After starting out 3-0, the Raiders have lost 4 of their last 5. Not to worry Raider fans, they host the Arby's KFC Holiday Classic after Christmas and are the sure favorites to sweep the tournament.

6. Wayne County (4-3, 3-2)

Rodney Woods already has more victories than he did last year (3), and has the Cardinals at 2-1 in the 48th. After two straight losses, the Cards turned it around against PCC.

7. West Jessamine (3-4, 2-2)

They started out 3-0, with two wins over region rivals, but have since went on a four-game losing streak and lost to Boyle and Lincoln County, both regional contenders.

8. Garrard County (6-4, 2-1)

The Lions of Garrard have won 4 of their last 5 games - the only loss by 4 at Madison Southern. The Lions have quality wins over region opponents Monticello and Danville and are on the plus side in the standings.

9. Boyle County (2-3, 2-1)

The Rebels have had a tough season. Their only quality win came at West Jessamine, but they lost to East Jessamine. A one-point loss at Woodford and a 16-point blow-out at Franklin have the Boyle Rebels on the outside looking in.

10. Somerset (2-4, 1-2)

Somerset has lost four of their last five, including two of the biggest shocks in the region to date. A loss at home to then winless Rockcastle and a loss at Barbourville. This has been an embarassing season so far for the Jumpers, but Coach Thacker is the man to turn it around.

[This isn't a poll on who is the best on who is the best, this is how they're doing at this very moment. For example: AP Poll.]

It's impossible to have "quality wins" over Danville or Monticello. Garrard has seemed to play better as of late but there's no way they are better than Boyle or Pulaski. If you are ranking on how they are playing at this very moment you have to consider who they are playing. Also Southwestern and McCreary are too high, East Jessaime smoked SW, so at theis very moment EJ is most certainly playing better than SW and McCreary lost to 1 win Cumberland Co, Wayne Co and W Jesamine

This isn't who the better team is, it's a poll of how they're playing at this very moment. It's my opinion so I couldn't care less what other people think about it.

I would say it has been an embarassing WEEK for the Jumpers, they started out the season great playing together as a team in their first few games and hopefully they can get that back as they learn to once again play team ball. It has been a hard week with some questionable calls too which only makes a bad situation worse. They're working hard to get it together and i'm sure they will get their game back! :thumb:

I agree, Jumpermom. They've now lost 5 of their last 6, with the loss last night at Russell County. For their sake, and the sake of the 12th, I hope they turn it around for the rest of their season - besides the game against McCreary. :p

Here is my top 10.

1. Lincoln ( top dog until someone in the 12th knocks them off)

2. West Jessamine ( Almost beat lincoln)

3. Pulaski. Co. ( with Ty back they have the talent to win it all)

4. East Jessamine ( Athletic but can they shoot?)

5. Boyle ( Always gets better with time)

6. Southwestern ( Dangerous on any given night but not consistent)

7. McCreary ( Losses now but will contend at the end)

8. Somerset ( has all the ingredients for a march run)

9. Wayne ( how far can wells carry them)

10. Casey ( looked great against SW and had PC beat until Hail Mary swished)

?? Mercer( I do not know where you fit, I havent seen you play)

Once again with this poll and $5.00 you can buy someone a last minute Christmas present that they do not need.

For their sake maybe, but I doubt the rest of the 12th cares if they manage to pull out a win for the rest of the season.

I didn't mean the 12th as in the teams want them to be good, but the region as an opponent. I would rather be considered the winner of a strong region compared to a weak one. I'm sure that most of the other teams would rather them stay on their downward slide.

I agree with you on that. However; I do not think Somerset's success defines the strength of the 12th. When was the last time they even made it out of their district? Even when they are having what appears to be good years, they manage to stink it up during march madness.

It's been a while since they've made it out of their district, and when they have they've failed to win their opening round game. I would just rather them have better records against out-of-region teams.
